Buy another car or not?

Got a line on a 92 Camaro RS 25th Anniversary Edition. Clean for the most part light surface rust around rear wheel wells and was ditched by the kid who owned it. The front bumper, fender and side ground effects skirt need replacement. Drivers side wheel is tweeked out so it needs suspension work as well. Car has 92,400 actual miles and is in decent shape red with black strips on the hood. Tabs expired in Oct 09 so it has been sitting since before then. Dad said Chev dealer wanted $750 to fix the front suspension plus body work.

The dad had to pay off $2000 on the loan when Jr. skipped town. He wants $1000 for the car and would like to get it out of the yard.

So do I buy it repair it for something to at least drive to shows meetings and cruises? Who knows when this wagon will be completed with all that it needs.

Sounds like a decent buy, but I think your kids are already too big for the back seat of one of those...

It has a unibody and since it was ditched, it needs to be straightened on a frame rack. I had an '88 IROC that was put in a ditch and the whole body was twisted.

He should be happy to get 500 bucks. Those 3rd gens don't hold a resale value...

I may try and get it for $750 as that is about all I can scrounge together without divorce papers or permission. YES I KNOW I'M ON A TIGHT FINANCIAL LEASH! The only way to make an end run on this is if it winds up as the wifes car after repair her B Day is in July. She gets a summer car with AT,PS, PB, Air, AmFmCd, EFI, and decent mileage, plus it will take nowhere the work of most cars for that kind of cash.

Start at $500 that is truely about all it's worth and you can always go up to $750 but you can't go down again.

Clean 3rd gens may actually begin an upswing in value now, since good clean examples are hard to find, and the LT1 4th Gens are the dirt-cheap trailer-park-beaters now. I've been seeing more nice 3rd gen project cars being built on the forums lately.

So...just add another year to the wagon schedule then? LOL!! Dave you've got no self control...! I'm amazed you were able to focus on just one woman long enough to get married.

Well it looks like I may get this car after all, just fix it and sell it make a few bucks on it. Give the wife some of the coin and use the remainder on the wagon. Have to talk to the guy tonight and see if I can get it a tick cheaper.
