Loose speedo cable.

I put the new cable on that I got last year from Corvette Specialties and it's loose on the trans end. The threads seem to bottom out but the cable flops around. Is here supposed to be a rubber washer similar to a garden hose on that end to seal ?

Mitch, no problem here with my trans and cable.  I wonder if there is a difference in years for the  part that goes in the trans and held on by the little metal tab with the bolt through it( think it is called the speedo gear sleeve).  The depth of the connector on  my old cable is .518 measured on the outside. Looks to be about 7 threads on the inside.  Cable should be held up to bottom of floor pan so it is horizontal when going into the trans.

I've got 3 of those "bullets" that the cable screws onto and it's loose on all of them..

No issues here with my speedo cable attaching to the transmission either. I wonder if its a problem with the cable itself since its a repro?

Kinda lookin' like that, Chris. I posted the same question on TC and got about the same answer....

Not gonna be happy if I need to drive back to Blaine for a cable.

Check my post in "Tech Resources" , under the "Projects" main forum about speedo cables...

I've used two of NAPA's now, and they work great!

I'll call NAPA tomorrow and see if they have any in-stock. I can take the bullet there to test fit...

What length cable do you need?? I've got the "slightly used" year-old NAPA cable from the pre-swap on the shelf...

Mitch, that 80" cable is way to long.  The one I had made this winter is 66".  On the car that Jame Hindshaw's son Colin is restoring, the original cable is 64" according to him.    That was a little short for me because of the location of the 2nd clip on the pass side floor pan.
