What am I missing - 2004R TV Cable?

What am I missing here?  Anyone familiar with how these connect to each other?  This is the end of the TV cable, and the arm is what it is to connect to?  I believe there is something that connects and I do not have it?  Anyone know where I can find the piece I am missing?

Found this second picture, shows a bent rod?  Anyone know where I can find this? Brian do you have these available?

Loren, I'll find out tomorrow when I install the engine/trans.

I ordered the TV cable adaptor and cable from Bowtie Overdrives per Master Trans recommendation, and I remember Pushrod telling me to make sure and install the TV cable BEFORE putting the trans under the car.

You might check out BTO's website (not the band from the 70's  ) and take a look at their cable setups:  http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/index.shtml

You're missing the connecting "link" wire between the cable and the TV valve actuator lever.

It is the definition of "a .10 cent part holding up a $10K project"! I wouldn't run the engine/trans without this piece of wire installed.

The TV cable is NOT a "downshift" cable like a TH350. This cable is literally the "brains" of the transmission, and tells the valving how to regulate line pressure, clutch applications, all kinds of stuff. Running the transmission with this mechanism adjusted incorrectly will yield a 200 pound boat anchor in 15 minutes!

I would certainly think this connector link would be available through GM or one of the aftermarket trans suppliers. Maybe a stop at a Kennedy, Ammco, or TCI in town might snag one as well.

What John said is not entirely true about it being the brains of the trans. It just happens that if that cable is not set absolutly perfect it WILL DESTROY the entire transmission instantly. Most transmission shops that do install these transmissions to this day are still gunshy on them, Now Then Transmission will sell let you install but forbid you from driving the car until they set that cable themselves. Raptor Transmissions may still have some of their tech tips on setting that cable correctly check their web site.

Loren, here are a couple of pics of the linkage you are missing.

I got into mine, now I have a problem... there's a thin spring that popped out of the TV bracket, and I can't figure out how it goes back in.  Will figure it out somehow.

I looked up for an 88 Monte. Part is discontinues, but I can still get one. That's part number 8657304. Going to run @ $20 through me. I would want to know the specific tranny just to make sure it isn't different.

Yes, they're a bitch to put in from underneath. Easiest way is to use a needle nose and pull up on it, then use another to hold it out of the case while slipping the cable end onto it over the S shape. Have done it twice now. First took half an hour, second took minutes.

Bryan,

Thank you for checking, I think I found them online from a transmission shop. (Sorry about the mis-spelling the name in earlier post).

http://www.wittrans.com/showfilter.aspx?Category=743&Section=182

I will definitely be installing with the transmission on the bench.

Stan,

While you have it out were you able to get a measurement between the bends?

Loren, saw this post after the trans was installed... But, I need to drop the pan again and connect the TV cable and install the dipstick tube, so I can check it then.  Will probably be a couple of days before I get to that point.

No problem, thank you. Just want to make sure I don't introduce any further issues by having one the wrong length.
