Splatter paint for trunk in my 72
Permalink

where might I get something like this? I looked at Fleet Farm but they had like 5 different ones and all of a sudden I couldn't remember exactly what it looks like? I prefer to buy locally like Corvette Specialties but I need to know what to get.

Thanks for the help!

I got some for Rick a couple years back, but I think it's been discontinued. I'll look into it.

Most of the aftermarket splatter paint is now water based and you HAVE to cover  it with plenty of clear to keep it from scratching easily.

Can't think ... is it gray/white or gray/black? Yea, the Eastwood stuff comes in a kit with clear.

For a 72 you are looking for dark green/aqua.. sometimes called balck/aqua.. You have to topcoat with clear.. trust me you cant skip that step.

Ive read that the best splatter paints are applied with a spray gun instead of a can. Its just what I have read though. I dont have any expierence with it personally.

Well lookee there, yes ... it does appear to be an aqua splatter on a black(green?) base. Should I even bother with this or just clean it up and cover it with a thick coat(s) of a good black rust preventative?

Without a pic, it's hard to tell the extent of the rust, but typically, the floor is pretty rusty. I would clean good with a wire brush, vacuum it out and treat with a good rust converter/stop agent. You wouldn't need to paint it, as it doesn't get UV rays to harm the coating, but that is always an option.

It actually only has a little surface rush here and there. What would be a good rust convertor/stop agent? I haven't used anything letely but is it still just a rattle can that says "Rust Convertor"?

In use Eastwood products but any auto supply store will have an aerosol can of it. Should say something about rust converter on it.
