Possible meeting/tech session at my place this winter

I will be doing a lot of work to the 66 over the winter and was wondering if the club would like to do a meeting/tech session here. I will be completely disassembling the front suspension and steering for a rebuild.
I also need to replace the core support and pull the engine/trans to replace the oil pan and locate the engine forward where it belongs.
The suspension will come off first. All the bushings will come out and the arms blasted and painted before new bushings are installed along with disc spindles and all steering components, as well as a power steering upgrade.
If we don't have a meeting place for December and people are interested, I'd like to get started then.

Well we typically take the month of December off because members just have too much family and things going on because of the holiday season. Which is what I have always preferred. Thats not to say we couldnt get a bunch of guys that have the time and are intrested to come over and make an afternoon of it though.

I dont want to put the cart before the horse here but we have always had a January meeting at Karl's in Lakeville. I dont want to say that will happen again, we still need to find out from Karl if he plans to have another "bowtie brunch" again in January. But if he does and you can get the car over there. That would be a good hands on tech session to remove and replace those suspension parts as that would be a job you could finish in one day and (trailer?) the car back home.

February and March meetings are still TBD. So that could be an option.

I talked to Karl last week and he is planning the Brunch again in Jan. He finished Bisquick and it is really nice. He thought he might have another project for us to work on but didn't know which one of his dozen to choose....wink
No way are we gonna tear the front end out, blast, paint, and reassemble it in one day....confuse

I guess I could put it off until Feb and work on the GTO until then but I also may need Ulnar transposition surgery by then and would have my right arm in a cast for a several weeks.

Just have to see how things play out, but if anyone is interested in getting together later this month or next, maybe we can just do a tech session.

If ya have heat I'm game. Great opportunity to learn some stuff, always wanted to learn how that body off thing worked.

Oh yes, I have heat. That would work to do it during the day oo, since we're both "retired" over the winter.
No body off on this one for a couple years. I did start a thread in the restoration forum about what I hope to accomplish in the next couple months.

Would like to host again.

Have a 66 el Camino scattered all over the Shop. Dericks old car. Hood, fenders, doors are painted and done. Core support, aprons, grille and bumper fillers are back from stripper. All glass is out. Will be putting on rotisserie and media blasting balance of shell. Will be repairing back glass opening, rear gate pillars and replacing upper dash and filler to cowl. Probably will be getting floor pans also. My thought is, there must be something on this car we can demo in January.
Car is still for sale. Put plugs and wires on it this summer. Miss is gone. Drivetrain still needs to be freshened. Has #s match 327 P/G. Factory air.
Maybe someone should buy it and do the drivetrain while I complete the body.

Get the body blasted and the pans on hand. That could be an interesting "hands on" for people who've never used a plasma cutter before to cut the old floor out. Should be able to fit and tack the new pans in the same day. That's a pretty small floor. I don't think you want people to learn how to mig weld on a new pan though...
