The new issue of Car Craft is out (Jan 2011) with the Real Street Eliminator coverage in it from St. Paul. Derek's car is pictured, and he has quotes and performance numbers posted throughout the story.

Nice work pal! Congrats on the coverage!

(FYI- I saw an episode of Hot Rod TV last night, covering last year's SEMA show. My wagon was on there!! I was kinda stoked...I mean, how many times do you casually click on the TV and see your Chevelle on it? They were checking out cars at the show and spent some time talking about the Cougar that was next to me...and the wagon was in the background throughout the segment. They never mentioned it, since they were looking for cars to invite on Power Tour that were unlikely to show up. They wanted to challenge the owners to actually drive the high-end stuff...and mine is clearly a driver and nowhere near the high end of anything. But it was cool to see!)

I think you're right headlight even made the cover! They have small pictures running across the bottom of the cover, but most of your car ended up under the address box  confuse.

The newsstand copies do show me on the cover. biggrin

Rick emailed me yesterday to tell me it was in the magazine, so I had to run out at lunch to get a copy. I was really excited to see it on the cover, but a little dissappointed to see the postage-stamp size picture inside the magazine. confuse

It is seriously some great motivation to get my LS swap done... I think I can win it with some horsepower.

I might even "cheat" and put Hoosier A6's on it if I can come up with another $1200 after the engine is done... maybe nitrous too, have to do well in all 3 categories you know. wink

Congratulations Derek!  That's way cool!  headbang.gif

Scott, I flipped on the Speed channel about the same time and saw the same episode.  I think I've seen your wagon in a couple of mags too from when you did the autocross at SEMA last year.

Congratulations Derek.
I know I got kinda excited when my car was in a mag. OK it was a wide angle shot of a car show, but in was in there. biggrin

However, actually getting mentioned has to be a pretty big thrill regardless of the photo size. I think every gearhead has dreams of their car making it into a mag. Again congrats!!

Ya- It showed up in both Chevy High Performance and Super Chevy coverage of the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational. I was happily surprised they chose to run it over the slew of Camaros out there! I hope to qualify for a return trip next year- I've got a few tricks up my sleeve to make it quicker over the winter, and then I'll invest some seat time in learning how to drive it well. I'll never win that thing, but being invited is quite an honor.

Congratulations! It's almost an annual thing now for a member to be in there after that show.

I just got home from work and I see I got mine in the mail today. What a bummer they put your car behind the address label. IMO, they should have swapped spots with the red Corvette instead.

Just now looking at page 72. Its too bad they put all the late model new stuff as the lead in the story and only 4 muscle cars with a small picture.disbelief

I also hope this isnt all the coverage they are going to do on the event,

I like this quote though. "Thats my 87-octane tune-up".biggrin

That's not quite what I said... confuse What I actually said was "It's tuned for 87-octane"

It was way cool to see my name in there several times though...

They will trickle out cars over the next 6 months, mixing in 2 or 3 locals to one from across the country. 67SS's pic has made thier website now.
