How best to clean an preserve brake booster finish?

Just did a pre cleaning and polish.  It’s been neglected the past few years.  I had it professionally done a number of years ago.  There must have been a few specks of rust Left.  A lot of calcium also showed up.  Is there a cleaner you recommend?  After I get it real clean, I plan to polish with a  product that will inhibit rust. And will take a clear coat, if that’s possible?  The MC cover is a NOS piece.  Finish will never match, it did when I got it back from the restorer.  I’ve decided to live with that sine I think the booster is original to the car.  Time to clean up the engine and engine bay as I haven’t done anything for 5 or more years.b

I would just clean it good with Dawn and dry it to prevent spots. I then use Boeshield on bare steel and previously rusted plated parts to preserve the original finish. I have a gallon here that I could donate an oz or 2 to you. It only takes a film on the metal to protect when it dries. There are, also, small hand pump bottles for under $20 on Amazon.

Thanks Mitch.  I had some Boeshield  in the past,  Maybe some is still around, if not I will take your offer or buy some.

Found my boeshield.  I cleaned up both booster.  Looks like I will remove them this winter.  Too much work dealing with them in the car.
