I don’t like the way I sit in my front bench seat. I feels like I sit two low and kind of tilt back two much. Some where along the line someone added a spacer under the front legs of the track (maybe to get their belly away from the steering wheel). I think by removing those I will be adjusting the tilt; but I still will sit kind of low. Maybe that’s how you sat in those days. I w as thinking of using a spacer under all 4 legs of the tracks. Anyone out there with this issue or have modified their bench position? Thanks
Well I took them out about 2 yrs ago, know where to be found. They were just a squares block with a hole in the middle. I think I should try spacers in the back. If I don’t like that, maybe front and back.
As long as I have your attention, what’s the correct way to remove and re-install the seat belts. I am sure the way I did it is not the right procedure.
Jim, I had similar issue with the sinking seat. The springs wear out, lose tension and stretch after fifty years. Any good upholstery shop can add wire reinforcement and or stiffer foam to the seat. I’ve had it done to two bench seats, great improvement
Or…you’ve packed on a few pounds, that was partially my problem.
Are you trying to get the buckle part of the seatbelt strap thru the bolt cover? Try folding the buckle back over the strap while twist/rotating the buckle ninety degrees and it should slide through. The buckle is not square.
Actually I am down to high school weight 150 lb. I actually found an old Team Chevelle post of mine regarding removal and installation of the belts. There is a way to pull the belt back through the cover that allows you access to the bolts.
