I missed the meeting on Saturday because I was making a deal on this thing...

Seller was very honest & up front & I was able to see all the issues. Floor pans are decent, not ideal, some patching in the typical spots but does not need floor pans or braces. Its definitely a 20 footer but none of the panels are rusted out. The right quarter will need some help but a magnet sticks to it. I can see varying filler lines along the panel though. Frame is very nice. The seller purchased the car in Arizona & brought it up here but cant say for sure if the car spent its entire life there for sure. Box is nice. Its a factory bucket seat car & the seats & console are both present plus the code & the trim tag verifies it too & the brackets are present on the floor pan.

The motor is a fresh rebuild with only dyno time to break in the cam. Its a 350 with a J eggs Vortec top end kit. The transmission is a TH350 that he says shifted just fine when he was driving it daily. The nice thing this car is farther along to getting back on the road then the other projects I have & it will be nice to have something to enjoy in 2021. Im planning a bunch of suspension changes for my 66 & ill just transfer all the rebuilt suspension & steering stuff onto this car. Ill probably start looking for a pre 66 10 bolt since I have a set of Hotchkiss springs that I would like to use on this car too. Ill probably swap the buckets from the 66 also since they are already covered, they are plastic back 1968 seats anyways & use these 67's in the Chevelle instead.

Sorry for the one photo being sideways. I tried uploading, removing, editing photo, re-upload, remove, rotate sideways to compensate (still posts sideways), removing, retaking photo, nothing worked. Oh well. 2 other photos posted sideways & I was able to correct it. This one wont change no matter what. Tip your monitor on its side I guess.razz

Looks like a nice one that doesn't need much just to be a solid driver.

No need to change rear end.
64-66 used a flat perch on the housing with a bolt-on retainer. 67+ had the cup that held it in. Both styles use the same size pigtail end on the spring.

The top side (frame pocket) is where they changed the spring style from full-coil on 64-66 to pigtail 67+.
You can use 64-66 springs in a 67+, but can't use 67+ springs in a 64-66. Ride height may change though. (I have been running single-pigtail springs in my '69 for years)

I think I had it all backwards in my head but the way you say it feels more familiar to me. Which is good, one less task to work out. Ill pull the axles & put new seals in & inspect it & probably swap the drums from the 66 on there as well then. The front discs on this car look to be something like a later model F or G body.

Welcome to Elky's Anonymous.beers
Many body and trim things interchange 66-67 and then again many don't.
Front Sheetmetal does not except as a complete bolt on clip.
Hood hinges interchange.
Glass, doors tailgate, bed trim, glass trim all gate and most door hardware is the same as 66.

I have parted at least half a dozen 66 cars.

Don't be shy if you need something I can help with.

That is nice. I have always liked El Caminos, and this looks likes a good start.
