At work many of the things I do must be torqued to a set spec. Some are listed with a dry torque, some with a Never Seize, Lock Tight Red or Blue.
The cool Torque wrench has you scan the item, serial # then employee badge. Wireless digital wrench that vibrates when the preset number and it flashes on hand
But one of the BIG BOYS will run these nuts up in stages to 275 ft#! You just sit on a rolling chair hold it up with your knee and hang on while that bad boy does it all.
Sorry for the delay I work at New Flyer Industries. They build the city busses from start to finish in St Cloud. Many cities want their own SPECIAL bus so it is not a cookie cutter build.
Some cities want the new all electric "My area" 650V 450amps you could power your house for a good long time with the batteries they use.
Others want, Diesel, Diesel/Electric, LPG, LPG/Electric, Hydrogen, not so much on the hydrogen anymore. Steel comes in all laser cut, put in jigs welded, sandblasted, painted
powder coated or galvanized parts. Body panels installed with insulation behind them, wiring, paint, windows rooftop units, engines drive
trains more wiring, interior. Then decals wraps exterior work inspections debugging it takes a bit of time to build a bus.
They must have a refurbishing dept too ?? For a number of years, I've seen buses from all over being transported in the metro area. Some obviously need rebuilding and others have been rebuilt and look new, leaving.
I did a fair amount of that when I worked for Lorenz in the early 80's. Old motor coaches and city buses.
New Flyer is a pretty good customer of Thermo King roof top units. When I worked at TK I was involved in a number of projects for them. Seemed like a good relationship for both companies.
Dave, I'm guessing you have had your hands on a few TK units working there.
