Around 2 weeks ago I starting noticing a faint, intermittent ache in the right side of my chest just above the breast that was very weak 1 on the scale of 1-10 that would come and go and only lasts about 3 seconds, sometimes it would be every hour, sometimes every few hours, very intermittent. Felt more like a muscle pain then anything else but did not interfere with my day to day life or prohibit me from doing anything physical during the day. Energy level was fine. So I felt since the minor discomfort resided in my chest & was still present after 2 weeks. I felt I probably better make an appointment with the clinic I normally go to. Well they weren't equipped to handle what could be a potential heart problem and it was encouraged to get checked asap, so off we went to the ER at Mercy Hospital.
After giving several tubes of blood, having several peel & stick sensors applied to me to plug into several machines throughout the day, laying in the CAT scan machine that looks like something out of a James Bond film, it was determined after the result that no blockage is present but there is some evidence of slight plaque buildup (which I knew), thankfully the doctor feels the discomfort is not suspected to be related to my heart and likely more the chest cavity or pectoral muscles. but the entire experience today had me quite freaked out. As Larry can attest, heart health is nothing to take lightly & I probably should have been more proactive on this, even though I never really dodged a bullet today, I still plan to make some lifestyle changes.
So I tell you guys, if your ever in a situation where you have pain in your chest, no matter how minute it may seem. Listen to your body & get checked out ASAP.

Dear Optimist, Pessimist, and Realist.
While you guys were busy arguing about the glass of water. I drank it!
Glad to hear everything is ok. I certainly second that notion to have any discomfort further investigated.
I have the pleasure to work in the medical device industry (we make a lot of diagnostic heart catheters) and we hear a lot of stories where people finally decided to see a physician after experiencing pain. Many cases it was a matter of a few more days and they likely would have suffered a major event.
Glad you got it checked. I’ve had a couple scares, including wearing a monitor for several months. My wife has a heart condition that is pretty rare and it really put some attention on things for both of us. She’s now overseen by Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
Thanks for the post.
