What's everyone doing for the 4th?

Got a call yesterday at work and they said, 'Hey, that Slingshot reservation you have in Oct., do you want it this week?'.  Since I'm off the rest of the week, of course I said YES!

Got certified/checked out on it yesterday, and brought it home tonight.  This little girl is FAST!  I think the 0-60 is just over 4 seconds, and the quarter mile is in the low to mid 13's.  Not that I would ever do that with a work vehicle though.  gearbangerLike that but with only one wheel stripe.  Lol

It has a 4 cyl. engine and a 5 speed.  Prettty spunky.  I guess I get why Gearlube has 'Lubified' his Slingshot with a turbo and a bunch of other goodies.

At least I don't have to buy one to have fun.  My neighbors just bought a 2017 orange one, and are zipping all over town with it.

So, that's what I'm doing on the 4th and giving rides to our kids and Tina if I can talk her into it.  razz

If that back tire started out the same tread depth as the fronts, there isn't much left of it now. May as well finish it off by Monday..nana

You're spot on Mitch.  The back tire has maybe a couple of 32nds left before it's at the wear indicator.  The fronts have a whole lot more.  I guess I'll have to help find a reason for them to replace it.   razz

I did get Tina to sit in it last night and convinced her to try on a helmet.  She had a claustrophobic experience as a kid with her brother's football helmet getting stuck.  Long story...

Do you need a motorcycle endorsement on your license to drive that thing?

Yes, which seems silly to me. It's nothing like a motorcycle to "drive".

Most states consider it an 'autocycle' and no motorcycle license/endorsement is required, including in Minnesota.

Wisconsin does require a MC license/endorsement.  I have mine now, so can 'cross the border' if I decide to.

And Mitch, no hair blowing in the wind for me!  laughing  Besides, Polaris has a helmet policy so I and any riders are required to wear one on any Polaris product, including the Slingshot.

 I meant for Tina's hair to blow..razz

I didn't know there was a classification for them, separate from motorcycle...cool

I can understand a helmet policy for a loaner/rental. Would that policy require me to wear a helmet for a vehicle I owned ? That wouldn't happen..tsktsk

I've owned a motorcycle since 1968 and I haven't owned a helmet since the law was repealed in 1977.
