Gm 3701323 washer on a 66
Permalink

i have been trying to locate a special washer used on the front bolt of the rear bumper bracket On a 66.  I am thinking it is some kind of serrated or cone washer that is use to make sure the front position of the bumper bracket bolt  doesn’t change.  The rear bolt special hexagonal washer being used to adjust the height of the bumper and it will also not allow the rear bolt to move once in position. I think this may have been used only on a 66  or earlier with a change in 67 to a similar design.  Maybe Chris will chim in if or when he removes his rear bumper to work on his trunk.  Attach is a photo of a washer from a Pontiac site that might be similar And also a photo of the hexagonal washer with the offset Center. Thanks for any info.

I don't show any GM dealer having that in their inventory nationwide anymore.

Thanks for checking BRYAN. It Was replaced by 3767286 sometime before 1979 and discontinued later, trying to determine if it was.serrated , cone shaped, both, or neither. The later years like your car supposedly used a serrated washer.

Time for Jim to visit Karls' 66 salvage.
Might take some digging, but there are some in my inventory.

Have taken more than three apart, only have three to reassemble.

Yes I will have to do in the near future.   It would be an adventure. Hope to make it back from AZ for the Jan meeting; but wife is loving the mid 70’s.

Have not pulled the rear bumper on mine yet. I'll try and look when I do.

Jim

Go to amkproducts.com, they have both washer in there catalog.

The 8 sided offset washer GM PT# is 3838450, at AMK a B-13743.

Don't see the 3701323 at all in the GM Parts but the amk cat has them in 3 sizes, B-11316, B-13072, & B-13073.

Hope that helps
