John B is a good guy and we've exchanged a few car parts along the way also.

Like others, I wish I had more time to offer help, but am usually so deep in my own projects, that time and space are limited.

Thanks for the shout-out Roger. It was a treat to see your chevelle - and your GTO, Impala, Other GTO, etc. Fun running into you and Mitch at the nationals too. The wheels and tires I bought at the show are on the car, BTW. I suppose I should post a photo?

I agree that this group is all kinds of cool and helpful. These guys have provided advice and support all along as I have worked to revive my aging baby.

Hmmmm......I seem to recall you saying "you didn't need to take them home today"...did that change or did you find some at a different booth that had to follow you home...

There arent enough words in the english language to express how much ive enjoyed being in this club. Thats why ive never missed a single club meeting ever since day 1. I was thinking about all the things I had never tried or done before or tried the first time which happened at a club meeting.

Tried welding the first time, both MIG and TIG.....

Learned how to use a paint gun and actually painted something with it...

Learned the do's and dont's about wet sanding paint and polishing do's/dont's.

First time ever being involved in removing a body off a frame...

Learned some tips on aligning sheetmetal...

Shot a hand gun...

Shot a rifle with a scope, ive shot rifles before but not w/scope...

Shot an AR...

Seen an engine run on an actual professional shop dyno (Meeting at Wheeler and one at TPIS)...

Seen numerous shop tours that do engine rebuilds, CNC machining of custom parts, process involved in powder coating, chemical dipping, full on custom hot rod builders/painters, club members opening up thier own home garage's and shops, etc. Plus the numerous cruises to places I either would have never gone or even knew existed to begin with. And dont even get me started on the parts ive obtained from other club members for my project(s).

The people are the best part of the club and if it wasn't for all you guys. I would have never got to experience any of this.

Well maybe accept for the welding part. Owning an 50 year old car that has always needed a trunk floor and some floor pan work means I would have had to learn to weld at some point.

Yeah, Mitch, another vendor had those 17" rallyes with nice BF Goodrich rubber on 'em and was a local. That pushed me over the edge. They look great on the car, and I managed to sneak that spring spacer in there so they don't rub or grind.

I have a question on the FB page. To date I have not been a FB user. Are members posting some information on the forum and other information on FB? If so can what is the purpose of having two locations? If someone wants to communicate and be part of all of the information being shared within the club would one have to be a forum and FB member?

I searched for the club last night and didn't find the "home " page. Following Stan's link got me to the home page and it's a "closed" group, but there seems to be many people outside of the club who have been admitted. It does seem a little odd to have 2 "clubs" going at the same time ???

I think John D. or Bryan started the club FB page a few years ago, and there's not a lot going on there. A few members only show up there like Seth that used to be in the club. John D.'s done a nice job of making sure if anything is on the FB page that is important gets posted here on the Forum, so there shouldn't be much difference. Yes, it's a closed FB group, so all you have to do is request permission and John can give you access.

We're lucky to get some people to log into this forum once a year, let alone being on FB. I only joined FB because the Mid-America Chevelle Club uses it as their 'forum' and communication tool with members (along with email for those not on FB), but have found I enjoy reconnecting with a lot of people or being aware of things they want to share in their lives. I just ignore all the negative BS and F bomb's that people feel they have to put out there.

The forum ALWAYS gets slow in the summer.
I did put in a request to join the fb group last night but haven't seen anything back on that.

I have not seen a request come through yet.

Both Bryan and I are moderators of the FB page, and I haven't yet seen a "join request" come through.

Mitch- Here is baby with her new shoes. She also got her eaton posi/ richmond 4.11 rear this week. Fun. Now my focus is on rear suspension, which is noisy and bumpy.

I forget who did it, but Facebook is popular enough with the over 30 crowd that it seems like a good idea to have a presence there. Mostly, it's a way to put our club out there, but none of the specific club day to day stuff. It's a closed group which means limited access by outsiders until approval. I don't think there's anything put on there that isn't originated/duplicated on our main forum which also goes into more discussion anyway.

Facebook is great for a quick update and some pictures. Best used for grassroots marketing, boasting/bragging, and quick updates on topics that are timely. Cruise for Troops uses it as a primary online presence, having the main page and an event page with over 2000 contacts. It works great for short lived contests and updates.

If you're not on Facebook, it's another way to connect to people from all over. I have reconnected with a 2nd cousin that I never really knew or spoke to, even though we lived less than 5 miles away for 15 years, are 1 year apart in age, and went to the same school. She now lives in WI and I know more about her and her family now than I ever did. Same with other car groups, clubs, etc.
