I havent been out to the boneyards in years.. Im looking for a 76 -80 Monza, Skyhawk, Sunbird, or Stafire with power steering.   I need the center section of the steering shaft..

That looks just like an s10 steering shaft flipped around.

You are old..razz..all the bone yards we perused are gone. The EPA shut most of them down years ago and the one's remaining do all the dismantling and you just stand in the office to buy a part.

The closest thing we have to a self-serve yard near here is u-pull in Rosemount. You still get to go out in the yard and tear stuff apart.thumbsup

I know that was the fate of Rohners and Degroots.. You could still walk through French Lake last time I went... Has to be some ugly Monza town coupe with powersteering hiding somewhere.. But where?

You can check some of Rosemount's inventory on line.

Youll never find a 75-80 Monza there.. Its good for "newer" daily driver stuff though.. They get those minivans and other stuff in and its stripped to the shell in a couple of months...

I think Ive been saved a lot of hassle By just calling Dave Quarterman of "Daves Vega village".. If Daves Vega village rings a bell for anyone you are showing your age... ;-) He has parted out over 135 H-Body cars over the years... He had what I was looking for.. Last one.. I guess the H-body stuff is drying up as well .. But nobody will re-pop it

Yes, you can still walk thru French Lake and Windy Hill but they are 80-90 miles for me.

Head to www.car-part.com

It's an online search for salvage yards. I entered 77 Monza, searched steering column, and searched "ALL" for the area. There's several versions listed, tilt, auto/manual, etc. Not sure if the intermediate shaft is different for any (or if it would still be on one), but I did get some hits by choosing each option.

It gets a little convoluted.. But basically the intermediate shaft I would have been seeking would have been from a V-8 Monza with Tilt and power steering...   Lots of variables and combinations would also work.

How did you get results from that site? I always have to submit my information and wait for a response.

OK.. I figured out how to get hits on the column.. Nothing in there about the shaft being included.. Anyway.. I think Daves Vega village has me hooked up..
