Center console and staple shifter

Any idea what a complete center console and staple shifter would go for...used? Reproduction would be fine.

I've used the Shiftworks OD kit a couple of times, and it works great.

Most used consoles go for around $250-350 depending on condition.  The used shifters go for anywhere from $50 to $100 depending on condition.

I think you can buy all new stuff from NPD or SS396 for around $500?

Depending on the shape of your floor some shifters may fit better than others. Camaro/Nova, Chevelle/Monte Carlo, and Impalas all had different bases on them... Camaro/Nova style seem to be the easiest to find used originals at swap meets.

The console is Chevelle, not sure about the shifter.

Have you looked at a 68-72 nova console setup. Can use the horseshoe shifter but much shorter console so your e-brake would not be affected.

The Camaro shifters have a flat base, the Chevelle ones have a stairstep to them because of the floor. Not sure if the nova is same as the Camaro or not.

I would definitely go with a positive detent modification if I went to a staple shifter again. I found it too easy to over shift, though with the 4 speed auto, the gates were shorter too.

This guy makes new staple shifters and can do flat consoles too: www.kilduffmachine.com/
