1993 Gen V 454 long block SOLD
Permalink

I'm selling the 454 that's been in my '66. I've driven this for 3 years and have had no issues with it.

It's a 1993 Gen V 454 from a truck/Suburban. It does have an unknown aftermarket cam that sounds good and performs well, but the peanut port heads limit upper rpm performance. I do have a pair of big valve heads for it that will be included along with ARP rocker studs for adjustable rockers. It will come with the original cast valve covers, but no intake/carb or any bolt on external accessories. Those will go back on the replacement engine. It will include the Gen V specific flywheel. I don't have a flex plate.

It has a GM performance conversion oil pan to allow it to fit in most other Chevrolet body styles besides the A body.

It will stay in the car for a couple weeks and can be heard running and maybe driving. Depends on weather, since the car has no rear glass.

I'd like to get $350 for all this. The oil pan alone cost $160 and I think I have about $120 in the extra heads and studs...clonk

Since I owe you $200 for the wheels, that would only be a buck and half out of your pocket....stirpot

As much of a bargain as it is, I have to pass...I already have three extra engines and little room for another.

Chris R should buy it to throw in his 66 until he can go through his current motor. :)

Sounds like a perfect weekend tech session to get it running again.

OK, I'll sweeten the deal a little.

I remembered that the pressure plate is particular to the 1 piece flywheel, and will include that. It does chatter a little when first engaging, but with practice it can be done smoothly.

This block also requires an electric fuel pump and clutch cross shaft adapter bracket. I was going to keep them in case I "came across" a Gen VI block someday...stirpot

The bracket alone was almost $100 to my door from Scoggin-Dickey. For an extra $50, I'll include them and make it a truly bolt in swap. All you would need is the intake and exhaust gaskets.

I can attest to getting a car back on the road via a successful tech session. Treat yourself to an early Christmas present!
