My Chevelle is up for sale

I've owned my Chevelle since 2003, thinking about a change.  It's going to be August in a week and I've only driven it once this year.  I've got it on Craigslist, LS1 tech, and Chevelles.com, if you know anyone who is looking please pass it on.

I agree with Tom, it's a really clean car and should sell.

Thanks guys, not sure what I'm up for next. The smart thing to do would be pay off some bills, but that doesn't sound like fun at all. I purchased the lot next to my house last year, this would be a good start on a shop. I'll have to see. I've had the Chevelle for 12 years, the LS swap was done 5 years ago and I only have 5,000 miles on it since then. I still like to drive it, but 99% of the time it's just taking up space in my garage, (or Derek's).

One of the very few tidbits of advise from my Dad that stuck was get into "Women's products, Booze, or Land". (Women will buy most anything, never ending demand, they ain't making anymore).

Develop the lot next door into a nice shop.

 Build the shop and you'll have a place for it "reside" out of the way. Any way to fit a lift in the garage to get 2 cars in one stall ?

I hear this all the time about my cars. I don't drive them but a few hundred miles a year, each, but I would miss them if I sold them.

That part about paying off bills is WAAAY overrated....you'll just make new bills and not have the car to drive...banghead

The hard part about selling and then paying off bills is in a year or two and you want another, that same money will be harder to come by. 12 years ago you could find a Chevelle for 10-12K that might even have been nice. Try that now? But to each their own. I agree with Mitch. My sister is really into this theory about a guy named Dave Ramsey. I agree with some of his principals. But cutting everything out to be totally debt free is ok for some and not others. I have debt, but I have assets as well. You pay off all your debt. Ok now what? Then one day you start getting frequent headaches for no reason. You ignore it as guys do, or take aspirin. A few days later you wake up blind in one eye. You go to the dr. to find out you have stage 4 cancer and will be dead in 6 months. Happened to my brother in law's brother. Life is short. Live it to the fullest. But you can still be responsible...

I wouldn't sell it just to pay off bills unless your loosing your house or something...Just my two cents.

When I was working on my Chevelle last time and turning it into what it is now, I actually sent my dad in Seattle my title cause I knew I would get so frustrated and want to just sell it....

Waiting for Stan to chime in here. Believe he has some experience selling Chevelle's only to get the itch again.

Turn-key LS swapped Chevelles don't come up for sale very often, so I suspect you'll have no trouble selling it.

 Someone going to get a very nice ride. If it's just a parking issue I have room here, and I could run it around once and a while for you. D is right, complete 'well done' LS swaps are few and far between, I think you'll do well. You may want to expand your marketing program for greater visibility.  Throw it on TC in the what's it worth section for visibility maybe Ebay with a strong reserve.

I like the way you think Mitch.  Next car might be a 66 or 67 GTO clone with an LS (or maybe LT by then) engine.

Oh, oh, switching camps to an orphaned car...stirpot

If you're going to clone one, get a Tempest. The '67 Le Mans has louvers on the q-panels, whereas the GTO didn't, and are more work to remove.

The tail panel will be the biggest piece to change.

Thanks, I won't be getting another car for awhile, just always liked the GTO. You all said I needed more headlights, you didn't specify they needed to go horizontal. laughing

There is still some fairly nice real 66-67 GTO projects out there for reasonable money. You wont need to find a Tempest or Le Mans to make a GTO out of.

If selling is what you wanted I'm happy for you, but I'm still sad the car is gone. I remember my first ride in that rocket, I had to have an LS engine after that. Yep, you got me started then mentored me through the project. Thanks again.

 Reasonable prices, meaning not Barret/Jackson money for some rusted out scrap that needs everything. Potato/Potato.
