Fleetwood Mac !!

It's been years since I went to a concert but we attended the Fleetwoodmac concert last night and holy sheeeeeeit !! I forgot how powerful the music is in person.

For a bunch of mid-sixty year old rockers, they put on one HE!! of a high energy show. Age has stolen most of the high vocal range from them but they still did pretty well. Mick can still spank the skins and Lindsey rip the strings as well as 30 years ago and that is very impressive.

Anyone who thinks that rock from that era is dead, needed to see the Target Center last night. I don't know the attendance number but it was packed, standing room only and the noise from the crowd was thunderous between songs. Us "old farts" can still get rowdy...laughing

As a side note, my wife has contract parking in St. Paul so we left the car there and walked 2 blocks to the new rail transit station. We rode the train to MPLS and got off 2 blocks from the Center. NO driving congestion or hassles or crammed, expensive parking. We bought 2 "event" passes for $8 round trip and had a relaxing commute. We will do that again when we go to the Orpheum in December thumbsup

That's cool Mitch! Glad to hear you both had a great time.

I hear what you're saying about older rock bands, too. I went to see Boston at Mystic Lake last month and was skeptical going in. Only a couple original members left, and the lead singer isn't one of them. I was worried it'd be like a Boston cover band.

But you know what? It was great. The original guitar player/keyboardist (Tom Scholz) is still the driving force, and all the music sounded perfect. The lead singer was right on, not changing anything and really nailing the vocals. They had 'Greatest Hits" CDs for sale for $10 (I grabbed one).

I went in a bit skeptical but left completely entertained. I'm sure Fleetwood Mac would have been even better!

We had tickets for ZZ top this summer, but the bass player had a gall stone attack so it was cancelled.  I guess the rockers have age issues too...  We were really looking forward to it.  angry

I was there also with my wife and friends. Great show! Great seats, 2nd level, 1st row, just above the suites.

Parking is uber easy if you come from I-394, just zip into ramp B, take the skyway and your there. Same with leaving, we probably awaited less than 5 minutes and I was right back out on 394 going west. No traffic!

The reason the bands website gave for her long absence was a fear of flying that she has worked on getting over.

As for her voice, she seemed to have a case of stage fright on the first song and bobbled a few high notes but seemed to recover her stage legs as the night went on and got better. We gotta remember, this woman is 71 YEARS old and still performing at a very acceptable level, as they all did, and doing it for 2 1/2 hours, nearly non-stop. They ROCKED that stage and seemed genuinely moved and empowered by the enthusiasm and energy of the crowd.  Did Christine's re-joining the group influence our decision to attend ? Not really but it WAS very nostalgic and deja vu to see and hear the old group together again.

Sheryl & I saw "Chicago" when they were in town about a month ago - State Theatre. Again - HOLY CRAP what a show. 3 or 4 original members still jamming. Intro to the show was Jimmy P (trombone) "Hey everyone, thank you for letting us do this for 40 years. We just released our 39th album, and we're gonna play stuff from ALL OF THEM! You're gonna be here awhile!"

2-1/2 hours with NO intermission.

I had won tickets to Paul Simon and Sting my wife said she didn't know the music so was not thrilled. I told her OK I will take somebody who likes and knows the music, suddenly she decided to go. After the concert she did say that some of the music was familiar to her.
Concerts have just gotten so expensive it is had to justify the cost of tickets when money is tighter than before, that's why KISS/Crue concert is out for me.

I saw Heart at the State Fair a few years ago. Fantastic. Ann Wilson's voice is amazing. Saw Starship a few years ago as well. Free concert in the park in Rochester. Again, fantastic. Mickey Thomas' voice is as strong as ever.

I grew up during the greatest era of music there ever was and ever will be.   When I was 14, I won tickets to a Heart concert in Duluth but my mother wouldn't let me go.  34 years later I finally got to see them.

I wanted to see Heart at the fair but we already had another obligation....major bummer. I have all their "best hits".

It seems many of these shows are on week nights too and I never wanted to be out that late. Now I don't care....only the wife needs to get up early for work...laughing
