See the post in the member's section for all the juicy details for our September meeting.

FYI...........the car or motorcycle club with the most participants wins a special prize.  This year, we're giving away an easy up tent courtesy of Norm's Tire Sales! How many members can we get there???

Can I get a headcount of who's going?

I would like to bring the Chevelle Row signs, but if there's only 2 guys, I'll save the space.

FYI, you can also do just the show portion if that works better. Show starts at 2.

Does anyone have suggestions for a meet up area and time to cruise in together to Route 65 Classics Sat. morning, since it looks like there will be a few of us with Chevelles?

It would fun to roll in together, and get lined up so that we are in the cruise in the same general area.

I don't know that part of the metro area enough to make a suggestion.

I`m planing to be there.

I like the idea of meeting up and cruising in.
Could leave from my house but I`m in White Bear, way east for most.

I think me and a friend from school are going to come down and cruise. Broaden his horizon a little bit. I think it would be fun to meet up and cruise in. I'm pretty much straight east of Route 65 classics, but I could really meet anywhere on 65. At highway 65 and Baltimore St NE/ 148th Ln Ne on the east corner there looks to be a little strip mall with a parking lot. Has a Subway in it (SUBWAY® Restaurants 1444 147th Ave NE Ham Lake, MN 55304, using google maps) its only about a mile from route 65, otherwise anywhere further south would work.

Just checking. The meeting itself is still 3PM at the car show at Route 65 Classics correct?

Yes. I'll be meeting tomorrow night for some setup and we'll be trying to nail down a timeline for during the show, but 3 is what I'm aiming for. Worst case, you'all have a meeting without me.

Sounds good.  Meeting time?  Maybe meet up at 10 A.M. at Menard's?

We weren't thinking of getting to Route 65 Classics until around 10:30 a.m., so I think it's about 20 min. from Menard's to Route 65 Classics which would be good for us.

Anyone else want to meet at that time at Menard's as John suggested?

that's a good time estimate from Menards to there. Hwy 65 just re-opened northbound, so that's not an issue. Pay attention to getting there. You need to turn Right onto 147th (HOOZE 4x4 is on the corner), it will curve to the left. Take a left onto Aberdeen, and it will be about 2 blocks up on the left. There should be signs out by then, but just in case......

It would be best to park together, and when we roll out, do your best to coordinate a rolling Chevelle Row. I'll be in the lead vehicle, but the plan is to drop off here and there to get some action pics while on the road.

Since we'll be driving south to get to Route 65 Classics, we may just wait near 147th and see if we spot a group of Chevelles arriving around 10:30.

makes sense.

btw, there is NOT a simple way to get in if you go past Route 65 while heading northbound.

The originator and lead coordinator of C4T Russ Hanes and Jim Wooddruff from Tribute to the Troops were on KARE11's 4pm newscast today. They used some pictures from last year's event plus some pictures that I took from Automania last year.

So who is meeting up at Menard's?

We will be there a little before 10.

Looks like a great day tomorrow, and they said on the KARE11 video Bryan posted there will be triple last year, so that means 1200 participants!  nana

AWESOME day today driving to the cruise, in the cruise, the car show, and the drive home!  It was great seeing a number of members and their better halfs, and seeing Bob's '70 LS6 SS project on the road and being driven!

Bryan was his usual upbeat self and heavily engaged in this cause.  His reading of the deceased Minnesotan military members names was very moving.  I don't have any military family members, but it made me proud to be an American and really appreciate the sacrifice others have made.  I saw this saying a lot today, and it was even more meaningful after being a part of the cruise; 'All gave some... but some gave All'.

I'll be curious for Bryan to post how many were in the cruise, but it was a huge line of cars and bikes that had to be in the mid hundreds.  It was well run on the highway side of it with law enforcement on each turn or major intersection, and other than more direction needed parking cars before and after the cruise, everything seemed to go off without any major issues.

Here's a few pics I took:

Really had a blast! My friend and I talked the whole way back to Duluth about how great of a time we had, and remember those who have served and are serving. Although I must ask, my awesome day, turned to some sadness when I stopped to fill up at the gas station on the way home. For just me to cruise out there, the cruise, and then back to the same gas station, I got 6mpg!!! Should I be concerned? I mean, we had the motto of "every stop sign is a sign to go" and we held true, so we weren't easy on her, but still 6mpg!!! help

I don't have a hard number, but 600-700 total is in the neighborhood. I agree, the people who did parking needed a better system. Next year, there will be painted or chalk lines if we stay there. If not, I'll still have it covered.

Glad everyone had fun. I'll post a recap in the newsletter, which may be a few days late...... We raised a ton of money for a good cause, and have already had a few people and companies come up pledging support for next year.

Not to insult your intelligence, Steven, but at 6mpg, that engine would be so rich, it would die at every stop sign. Did you fumble the division or get a decimal place wrong ....confused If not, you do have something amiss. Was it going into overdrive ?

Agreed on the parking, we waited in line for a while, but nothing at all to take away from the show! Definitely added to the list of must shows!

Mitch, she does smell pretty rich, I got the carb used, and haven't rebuilt it yet, just slapped her on and ran. When you gun it, she does stumble just a touch and then runs like there is no tomorrow! We went close to 90miles / 14.5 gallons = 6.2mpg. Was going into overdrive just fine. Everything ran great. Good hard launches. Just crappy mpg.

So who is meeting up at Menard's?

We will be there a little before 10.

Looks like a great day tomorrow, and they said on the KARE11 video Bryan posted there will be triple last year, so that means 1200 participants!  nana
