I'd take any of these cars

Quite the collection. To be a little nit picky since we are Chevelle guys on this site... wouldn't a guy get a '70 LS6 454 convertible instead of the 396 version if you had that kind of coin? The red 396 vert is nice, but it isn't the 'big dog' Chevelle.

I know of a similar collection on the edge of Lincoln, Nebraska right on I80. I know the guy's background, and he seems to have made the collection legitimately. Write down your favorite top 50 collector cars, and he's probably got it, and every one of his collection are manual shift cars. No auto's, whatsoever. He has a full time mechanic that keeps them all running, as well as restoring a new one now and then.

"only 4,298 LS5 cars were built and 4,475 LS6 cars. What was the rarest of them all? The L78 solid lifter 375hp model with a production of only 2,144." and goes on to say they were rated low but put out 425+hp.

The L89 adds aluminum heads but the number of those isn't documented that I could easily find. The L78 was replaced by the LS6 in 1969 for the 1970 model.

L89 is way more rare than the LS6, and it was the big dog early in the '70 model year before the LS6 was introduced.

I call dibs on the HEMI/4spd 70 Superbird.

The current issue of Muscle Car Review has a 1970 L89 coupe of which the article states its one of 18 built. That perticular car is a somewhat local car, guy is actually from South Dakota IIRC and he had it at Car Craft in 08 or 09.

From what I have read from guys on TC whom are better with numbers, the 69 L89's are a lot more rare, if a LOT more rare then the 18 built in 1970 is really true, there must have been maybe less then a handful made I would guess.

I also just noticed on my screen at least. Im not sure if all the same ads show up every time for everyone else, but that maroon 1970 Malibu conv for just under 15K looks like a pretty good deal.

Since I'm a green fan and Chris P. and Bryan have dibs on the Nova and Boss I'd still be happy to settle for the Camaro or Shelby!
