I specifically went over there yesterday. The building faces west (away from our street side) and is roughly the size of a large enclosed trailer. It goes from the sidewalk to just shy of the pole/hydrant area. Normally, our tents/chairs are farther north than that up by the tree and more into the grassy area. Basically there would be 2 spaces that would be visually obscured from the main drag.

I don't see it as an issue since it most likely won't be open (wasn't for the '50s which draws more people), doesn't block any spaces from being used, and doesn't block any of the grassy area we normally use. Also, based on how it's positioned, there won't be any cars driving up the curb and onto the grass through there anymore either.

Yup KQRS built a new building right on our corner. I brought it up in the Spring Extravaganza post last month. A large enclosed trailer is a pretty good way to describe it. Although its much taller in height not that it matters. I wouldnt say it necessarily ruins out spot, it does kind of ruin the appeal IMO, in the least its worth having a discussion about considering another spot. I made the suggestion at the last meeting and talked to Craig after about the possibility of heading up there on some saturday or sunday afternoon with him and maybe a few other guys in the club and see what they think as well. In the very least we can grab lunch up there.

So the "trailer" is on the end of the block where the Dole freezie stand usually was?

Nope. Its right on our corner and sits between the corner itself and that garden hose faucet. Also to clear up some possible confusion, its not an actual trailer, its a permanent building that I would say is about the size of an enclosed trailer although much taller. Its a permanent building and has a concrete pad in front of it for use as a "patio" during the state fair. I doubt they will use it for Car Craft. KQ was there with a booth set up at MSRA too in a completely seperate area from thier actual building. Patio side (or the front if you will) of the building would be facing the Dole stand.

MSRA has their own DJ and "pipes" 50's music over the whole fairgrounds at BTTF and doesn't allow any radio stations to play newer music. Could be a different story at CC...dunno

I have a few pics I took of it at the '50s, I'll post them tonight if I remember.

As for moving, I'm not sure where we would go that would still be anywhere near the action. About the only open space is down near the grandstand closer to the Midway area or over by the Haunted House but down the hill farther towards the barns.

Yup, that's the spot. Here's the pics taken from the end, corner, and from within the grassy area. Hopefully it helps illustrate better.kq1.jpegkq2.jpegkq3.jpeg

Another logistic: I have the pop-up and black bag for it. I won't be at CC on Friday other than to register and maybe a quick walk-through. It won't fit in my chevelle anyway. assuming the club wants to use it, someone needs to get it. I can bring it to Friendly Chevy but it can't stay there, there's no extra room. I also have the Chevelle Row signs which I can bring on Sat if we want them there. Those don't take up much room.

Geez, that thing's no bigger than a garden shed. I was envisioning a "double-wide"...

I don't think it impacts us much.

Its bigger then a garden shed though John. Bryan was pretty much spot on. Its about the equal foot print of an enclosed car trailer. Im guessing its about 25-30 feet long and width about a traffic lane. Im wondering if it might be best to move this thread to members only section because of our policy on not posting our car craft plans because of the "competition" of so many clubs and groups saving spots. Based on one of Bryans photo's, I had a thought on this but not to actually move somewhere else but I dont want to post it for the entire world to see.

I don't really think it detracts from the spot enough to worry about... Also, it gives the spot a point of reference for directing people to us.
"go see Chevelle Row behind the KQRS building" is a lot easier than saying "a block east and a little north of the place with the buffalo burgers"

Hey Guys,

Thank you!

Gates @ 7-7:30. Never looked at my clock, but it's about then. Then they pre-stage into rows inside before letting everyone in. last few years it's been just long enough to get everyone inside the fair, then in to the main area. I think it all depends on how many are sitting outside and how far back they go.

Thanks Bryan, I am always running late because we are cruising down with a group of people. Saturday morning is when I get there early. I also read something this year they won't let anyone on the show grounds until 3pm Thursday. I read this on my confirmation letter under Credential Pick. But now I cant find my confirmation letter that came in my email.

I always look forward to seeing a row of chevelles that your club has.

Thursday is just vendor set-up and stuff. Friday we'll be a little thinner because of people working and stuff. Saturday is when we're usually out in full force. Look for our signs out where we are.

Well... we're "roped off"

Big Shout Out to member Jon H. - who spent a few hours of his afternoon "patrolling" our spot, making friends, and establishing land-use treaties with our neighbors until I got there with the cones & rope.

Space is at a PREMIUM.

We have staked a claim to space from the corner sidewalk, to just north of the fire hydrant... that's it. We will work with our neighbors and shift North/South as needed.

(This enforces our need for attendance!... at event opening! If our spots aren't filled by 10am, we are subject to giving them up)

Thanks to Chris R & Craig S for coordinating the Jimmy John's lunch on Saturday.
Thanks to all who brought ice & bottled water for other members & guests at basecamp.

Well... Mrs. John D expressed some interest in the '68/9/70 'Vette's she saw on Saturday... Roadster would be great, T-tops cool too. I could get off cheap here - base 350/auto car. Then I'd have another 2-seater, but one you CAN'T haul anything in!! stirpot

As usual, had a great time on Friday (the more quieter of the weekend), and the mayhem as usual on Saturday.  It was great seeing everyone that made it.

Here's some pics I took on my phone:

And last but not least for Dashboard, here's one of his favorite engine styles, other than the cursed headers!

Thanks Stan that is one awesome intake setup even with the headers, however, the factory exhaust manifolds where pretty impressive also.
Wish I could have been there to see everyone and watch Chris do his magic on the small block. Congratulations Chris on your impressive accomplishment, whoop a$$ engine builder extraordinaire!
