I kinda looked around on line and there aren't many Olds heads around. More Buick. Is there specific reason you want the Olds ?? I thought you had a Buick engine ?

I was given a 2BBL Olds engine at the start of this.... It's been sitting on the stand in the garage... I finally decided I need to move this project forward or unload it all.. There isn't budget enough to do the Buick/Rover hybrid.... So I figured I could rebuild the Olds engine and install it for now....Olds changed their compression with the head cc volume and the 2 BBC heads only yield 8.75 to 1....The standard 4BBL heads are 10.25 to 1...Right in the sweet spot for an all aluminum engine on pump gas.

Buick used di SD he'd pistons and a standard head cc...If you put Buick heads on an Olds the compression is like 12 to 1 !

12 to 1 would make her cackle !!!

Gotta hit the big swap meets.

Maybe put a wanted ad on craigslist too and see what happens.

Iola is bigger than Jefferson. I was going to go last year and other things came up. I don't really NEED any parts this year but would still like to experience it sometime.

I haven't been to Iola in a few years, but it used to be huge, too big to cover in a day.  The down side is they didn't limit it to automotive related stuff so there was a fair amount of flea market crap.

I'd do the cardboard sign hanging off your neck thing too. There's probably one in a garage that people wouldn't bring to the swap, or someone who's shopping there has one.

Here is a long shot lead for your long shot inquiry, but a number of years ago(probably 5 years ago) Cooter's up in Tofte, MN had one of these motors in their building with a bunch of motors. It was pretty complete as I remember it had the air cleaner still on it even. I have no idea if it is still there or if it was a 4 barrell motor, but would be worth a phone call for something that obscure. Good luck.

Was afraid of that. The research seemed to indicate it was a major chain tire store now...dammit

I've got a couple inquiries out to national Olds experts. I'll let you know what they say...or how loud they laugh, or whatever...

I finally figured out where you were referring to. I think the old man died a number of years ago and many of the cars were removed. I've looked for them over the past few years and don't see them sitting on the hill anymore. Either that, or they rusted to the ground and disappeared...dunno
