Shouldnt be an issue.. The ice dams normally form where heat escapes up through the exterior walls

You've reduced the weight by almost half. I have the same issue and need to get raking tomorrow. If you can't get on the roof to shovel it off, what you've done is certainly better than doing nothing. I have heat tape in all my gutters to prevent them from filling with ice.

Yup. You've removed a lot of weight already so you should be fine.

Is that the north or south of the home? The guys are right, you've taken more that enough off. Does your roof rake have the small rollers on it to protect the shingles?

Keith I heard you guys further south got a bunch more last night.  Nothing in the Cities at all this morning.

There's some major melting on the way the next few days, especially if we hit 40 on Monday.  hyper

Problem is those are the only two slopes I can reach.   doh

The slope above the garage doors faces northwest. The other one pictured faces northeast.

No rollers on the rake but thanks to the layer of ice, it doesn't touch the shingles.

Yes, we got more snow.  Not sure how much but I spent the whole day yesterday removing snow.  Looking forward to seeing it melt!!

Yeah we got some MORE snow down south here  angry

I've never had a problem with snow piling up on my roof, maybe it's the poor or lack of insulation that causes it to just melt off.

Could you use scraps of plywood so your feet don't sink in, and stand on top of the snow?

Uh,... Snowshoes.

(When Faribault & Lino Correctional were my clients, I had to buy a pair to do service on the the fence climb/cut/monitoring system. Lemme tell ya it's a workout walking a mile or two in un-touched snow with tools.)
