I'm just sayin'.... well, you figure it out!

It's a fun event. You can sit around, drive your car on the track, watch/participate in the burnout contest, and the Miss Powercruise gals are out & about.

I plan on going again this year.  Might even bring both the Chevelle and the Camaro?

PowerCruise 2014 was as good as ever!! Couldn't have asked for nicer weather, both for the cars and the people. LOTS of fun.

There are some very scary-fast sleepers lurking around - and as much as I hate to admit it, the import stuff is very impressive.

I'm very pleased to report that representatives from the Northstar Chevelle Club took 3 of the 5 "Show & Shine" awards this year!!

Me - "Top Judged Paint/Body"
Matt (Loren's son) - "Top Judged Interior"

And Loren - "Top Judged Overall" !!!!!!

Congrats guys!

Has the muscle car to 'others' ratio changed over the past couple of years?  Seems like muscle cars are still in the minority?

Yup... in regards to "classic" muscle...

This event really seems to cater to the 25 to 30-somethings crowd, and the segment of those who either have lotsa $$$$ or not much - no real middle ground.

Not to be derogatory, but it seems that there's a high percentage of "store-bought"/OEM performance cars, with the today's style of upgrades (re-tunes, chips, bolt-on turbo/supercharger kits, etc.)... Not what I would call traditional hot-rodder type stuff, but it's where the hobby is going. Our stuff is entering the preservation stage of the hobby, and the factories are putting out base models that have 1.5x the HP the high-end models of our years did.

The import & drifter guys are the ones doing the "old school" hot-rodder stuff! Stuffing LSxx's into Japanese lightweights and thrashing the hell out of them.

Gotta say, I saw a mid 70's Datsun 240Z at Hastings last Sat. that had an LS engine in it, and it was done very tastefully and I'm guessing it was a fun car to drive.  Those are the 'new' hot rods IMO.
