My dad is getting older. So for the last couple of years we always plan a car themed trip somewhere. For 2014 were flying to Scottsdale AZ for the Barret Jackson Auto Auction. I am going to take lots of pics and post them. My uncle lives close by and were staying with them. Not sure if I am more excited about wearing shorts in 75-80F or the cars!! Either way I think it will be fun.....
We plan on driving the car to Cleveland this year instead of trailering. Hopefully it will be in one piece with working a/c by late July. Got tickets to the pro bowl, not car related, but should be pretty cool anyway.
I'm still determined to get my '38 to pull a trailer and go to the NSRA meet in Springfield IL. There is a full hook-up campground a couple miles from the venue. MUCH cheaper than a hotel.
When we went out to Deadwood, we had a full hook-up camp and it was $30 a DAY for all the electricity and water we wanted, plus free shower facilities in the main building. All the rooms within 30 miles were going for $200-300 a night and were full !!
A Route 66 tour is on my short list too, but most likely not this year.
I would go to the Goodguys event in Des Moines but it is over the 4th of July and I don't think my being gone for that would go over too well.
Might try to make the Hot Rod Nationals in Lincoln, NE around Memorial Day again, but this time with the vert.
The Chevelle gathering in Ohio might be on the radar too depending how things go with the vert and the trans swap. That might accelerate plans for AC though...
