Went on a really nice trip with Stan and John D. Drive about 70 plus miles without issue. Then coming home I am literally .5 miles from the house. I put my left blinker on and am sitting in the intersection turn left. My turn to go. I hit the gas and all it does is rev. I thought it came out of drive. I switched the gears. I can hear clanking sound from underneath. Turned the car off and start to push it in neutral. Nice guy stopped by and helped me push it into the Ace Hardware lot. Got it towed to home.
I did the following when I got it home.
1. I check the trans fluid level and the level was good. Fluid is new and red with no burnt smell.
2. Checked my TV cable to make sure when full throttle there was no slack in the line. Good there.
3. I put it up on my lift and put it in neutral. I spun the rear wheels and see no issues with the rear diff or gears. Spins without issue.
4. Inspected the flywheel and torque converter. It's bolted up and all looks fine.
5. Inspected for leaks. None. Inspected trans dipstick tube and TV cable. All is good.
so unfortunately I think the issue is inside the trans. Taking it to John at Master Trans next week. Thank God for Hagerty towing insurance. Thought about leaving it until next spring, but I have some projects this winter I want to do on it.
Hopefully it's something simple. I know John can fix it. Reason 1001 to pay a little extra for good parts and service. If I had bought this off the net, a problem like a warranty issue could cost some real money.
I did not beat on the trans at all. No burn outs. Hope to get it back next week.
John got into the trans today. The trans pump failed. Apparently there was not the correct clearance from the converter to the trans and it stripped it. So the good news is that I did not scrap the trans. Only the pump and converter. Get it back tomorrow. They are going to put it back with all the correct clearances etc.
Going to be lining up my projects.
Edelbrock EFI

Wilwood brake calipers
Just picked it up tonight. Much better. John kept it because when I picked it up yesterday the intake got clogged so he had to fix that and then my accelerator cable snapped on him. He replaced it. John is an awesome guy. Hw knows how to take care oh his customers.
He and his crew like good pizza by the way. I dropped off the Jeep to have a small trany leak fixed in the fall of 2012. When I went to pick it up, a pizza shop by my home had a two for $8.00 deal going so I picked up a couple of pies for the shop. He hasn't charged me for any service or minor maintenance since.
Every once in while if I was out test driving a car last summer I'd just stop by and drop off a couple pies and get my 'free consultation'; I'll miss him.
