I had the wrong sales price listed on CL. It should have been $15,800

So do you all think I am asking too much? Hard to find a rust free car these days. Like most of us I have a lot more into the car than I am asking for it.

I think your price is perfect at $15,800. I think it should sell without issue there. I think the only thing hurting it is the color being yellow. But I do know there are some yellow fans out there! The HUGE pluses are the Muncie, the Eaton Posi, disc brakes etc.

Why not try selling it on Ebay? Its really easy to do and you may get more of an audience. I have sold a few cars on Ebay and it is really easy to do. I would be happy to help you out there and write the add in HTML to make it look attractive. You can put a reserve on there and also put in that you have it listed locally and has the right to end the auction early.

Don't panic if you didn't get a lot of hits from CL. It sometimes takes months to sell collector cars that way, and to be honest Spring is the best time of year vs. Fall, as most people are thinking of putting things away for the winter, and not in the market to buy a collector car they won't be able to use until next year.

If you are jonesing to sell it, Tom's idea is probably the fastest, and you will get a national viewing vs. locally. And he's right about the color, it's a love it or leave it thing with a lot of folks. It looks very solid, but yellow will turn some people away. It's not the popular resale red, white or blue that a lot of people like on Chevelles. So, you might need to price adjust a little to make it more attractive because of that. Still a cool car though!

I think your price is good. My only thought is that it might be the wrong time of year to sell it.

Thanks guys. I thought the price was reasonable. Don't need a fast sale. If nothing comes up in a couple of weeks I will put it in storage for the winter. Yea yellow is a color you like or hate. For me I liked it. Believe it or not I am going back to a Corvette. I had one for 8 years before the Chevelle and it was a great long distance trip car. With the 3.73's not so much with the Chevelle. I know it's a bad time to sell but it would be a great time to buy the Vette.

Seems like it would be less expensive to look at a Gear Vendors overdrive or put 3.08's in the rear. Not many vette's of any year around for what you'll get for the Chevelle.

By the way I am looking for a 96 Vette. Prefer an LT4 but would take an LT1. Also prefer a coupe and a 6 speed. If the right car came along I would do an even trade. The lower mileage Vettes are going for about $13K to $15K. I know the C4 Vette's are the red headed step child of the Corvette word but I prefer them to the C5.

That time of year. Hard to sell summer toys with winter coming on. 3 of mine are headed for storage next week end.

Anyone here have any experience with sites like Auto Trader, Classic Car Trader. I am still going to wait until spring but want to get my ducks in a row. I have sold many thing on Ebay but never a car.

Took the Chevelle out for a ride before storing it. Put about 100 miles on her. Still a great car. Get more looks than any of the Vette's I have owned.

I sold a few cars thru Auto Trader years ago when it was just a local paper magazine. Better exposure on the web now. It's still one-on-one dealing rather than an auction but you need to be very clear that they need CASH, just like craigslist. Be willing to co-ordinate pick up with a carrier if it is sold to a long distance buyer.

I think Auto Trader on line costs $75-100 to list your car for a few weeks. Ebay auction usually runs $20-25 depending on how many pics and options you pick. Much wider net with Ebay, and I think you can add an option for the buyer to pay for an inspection if they are unable to come view the car.

I tried selling a '79 Z-28 on Ebay a few years ago, and it didn't hit the reserve, but I reached out to one of the high bidders in Rochester, and he ended up buying it for a price we were able to agree on. So, sometimes even someone local will find it on Ebay.
