71 -72 SS Wheel ?

The trim rings I have are dinged up with curb rash here and there and the center caps have faded bowties and a few dings.  Any recommendation on which aftermarket center caps and trim rings to buy?  I'm more interested in the quality of the parts versus being exact replicas of the originals.

Mike,

There are a few versions available on the trim rings:

1. Chrome aftermarket that look good (I had them on the green '72 Chevelle I had) and probably the least expensive which can be found on Evilbay

2. Stainless steel like the originals from aftermarket like Ground Up at $140 for the set http://www.ss396.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=chevellecamino&Product_Code=NTR-70Z

3. NOS which you will pay BIG bucks for if you want to use only original parts because they are farely rare

On the center caps, pretty much the same story.  If you find the NOS original raised bowtie versions, you will pay BIG bucks for those also.  Otherwise, here's some aftermarket ones from Ground Up for $70: http://www.ss396.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=chevellecamino&Product_Code=NJT-63K&Category_Code=CENTERCAPS  None of the aftermarket ones fit real tight so you get the 'clunkity clunkity clunkity' sound every time the wheel turns, so I've put a couple dabs of RTV on the inside of the cap opening and that takes care of it, and you can still get the cap out easily if you need to balance the rim.

I had the same thing with the center caps. Very hard to get on because the clip is too big and then loose once snapped in. RTV to the rescue.
