Here ya go Jim, saw this at the Buick show; very clean Malibu not sure I’ve ever seen one un-restored with no rust before. The underside was very clean, had to have been from the southwest there was no rust on the underside.

The guy had a 60 over 454 to go with it, I think you could have done some negotiating and picked up the car without the engine for a good price.

Did I say it was rust free?

I think he was asking 10K with a 454 drivetrain, very clean. We were moving through the swap meet area quickly, I only snapped one picture; I should have gotten one of his flyer.

I looked over the malibu and at 10K not a bad price. He had a ton of new aftermarket parts to go with the 454 (close to $4000), and a t-400, and a ford 9 bolt. Salvaged Front and rear disc brakes. I think it will sell at that price. Some rust issues, you must have not looked in side the doors; but fixable. Front windshield chanel is good as well as all original glass. Back windshield pinchweld area need a good deal of repair.But a good original trunk and good floors. Underside of doors are excellent with no repairs., front fenders appear to be excellent with no rust or repair Still has original body mounts and they don't look too bad. PS and Manual brake car. Has good original buckets, rear seat, belts, and console. Probably the least rusted original 66 I've seem.
I would think you would go with the 454 since its just plain Malibu. A Fremont CA car. With another 10K plus some work on your part, you would have a fast car with a great body and great paint . I have a photo of the list of all the aftermarket parts. Mitch could build this think up to over 600HP and take it to the track. I would have to have someone like Mitch or Derek to look it over with me to jump.

A very, very, nice 56 chevy for 23K with a new crate 350 and a good looking 66 F 85 for I think, !3K.

I was able to expand the photo to read some of the information. All parts for front factory disc brakes, gm rear dis brakes of WS6 trans am, turbo 400 trans, 0.30 over 454, 0.10 under forged stee 454 crank,speed pro forged alu .30 over pistons, meling oil pump, 7 qt oil pn and pik up, one piece oil pan gasket,gm performance alu oval port heads (brand new), gm culinder head bolt kit, crne cam roller rocker arm, crane cam moly puh rods, comp cam mag hyd cam, edelbrock performer intake, demon 750 double pumper, edlebrock high vol fuel pump, new hedmaan headers, stage 8 locking header folt, hei ditributor, dual exhaust, Ford 9 inch housing and 410 posi center section.

Needs body work, paint, new interior, re-chromed bumpers. Thats about it. Does this sound like a good price??

Price seems quite reasonable judging by the description and one picture.

I saw 7-8 (maybe more) 65-66 Grand Sports or Skylark convertibles, half of those were four speed cars. Good showing considering the low production numbers of those cars and how difficult it would be to clone one.

It was a Buick show but there were several other nice cars there as well.

I thought the Chevelle was one of the cleaner ones I’ve seen, I did not climb up on the truck to look inside however. I agree it would clean up nicely.

It was just nice to get out and walk around some nice cars. Sounds like Chris had a good day.

Gotta know if he has a CLEAN title. I don't get involved with cars that need to be bonded, but for 10k it SOUNDS like a fair deal. Of course, I would need to see it to make a definate conclusion.

Grab that car for the 10K and invest a little extra money to get the drivetrain running and you would have a pretty nice street machine for not all that much money. I wish I would have made it down there today. By the time my day was free, it was noon and it didnt seem to head over there when really things start wrapping up around 3PM. Didnt really see the point.

Chris, you are right that you could probably get it back on the street as a driver fairly easy, but it was not in near as nice of body condition as the pic appears. It was rough in many areas, cracked paint, dents, some rust, etc. Darn digital pics make everything look better than it is...

IMO, $7500-9K max for a Malibu like this is more realistic, but then again I'm not as up on those four eyed year values...

I looked at this car too. I thought the buckets and console with an auto was unusual for a plain Malibu. It is a very solid car. It does have some rust issues like Jim stated. A hole in the lower rear door jamb area and rear window area needing repair. But it's a very solid foundation and worth the 10K asking price IMO considering all the parts that come with it and it's above average condition. I'm sure you could get it for less too if a buyer "flashed some cash"

He sold it yesterday for 9k.
