Found the adhesion limits of Potenza's on a barge...

Had a "Shake out the pants leg" moment on Saturday.

Was peeling off 212 onto 169 north in the "Green Mary" at about 50mph... a nice smooth/gradual on-ramp, in dry conditions and WHAMMO - the azz-end kicks out on me!eek2

NO warning, no jitters, just "I'M SIDEWAYS NOW"!!! I kept it from looping but it was hairy for a few seconds. whew

This car bites like a Porsche 911... all grip & confidence until the limit and you're azz 1st into the ditch.

Are you sure there weren't a few cases of hops and barley in a can in the back that shifted weight and transferred the momentum!?!?  razz

Nope... no sand or "shifting mass"... Just BANG, 5 feet of overhang, and "this will be interesting". Now it's personal. "We" need to find that edge again and define it!!

Polar Moment of Inertia. An 18' long station wagon has a lot of it...

More difficult than a sedan to get it loose, but when it goes, it's way more difficult to bring it back.

I never had the back end come around on me on dry roads in mine, but I had the tires screaming for mercy every single day on the 2 cloverleafs between Dexter and Rochester.

With all the oil build up on the roads from no rain it only takes a little dew, mist, or any moisture and now we have a huge oil slick. I have realized the same phenomena on a few occassion lately. The Tahoe being top heavy is no pleasure to experience a drift in.

"Bites"... meaning taking a CHOMP out of YOU when you ignore its nanosecond-duration Deutschländer warning signals...
