Last Hasting for 2012

This will be the last weekend for Hastings; they still have the best ice cream in Minnesota.

Plus, plus……. if you go this weekend you may be able to see a small part of history.  The floating in and placing of the 525 foot bridge arc is (at this time) scheduled for this weekend. The date has changed at least three times but this could be the weekend.

Summers fading fast, Saturday is the first day of…….dare I say it autumn. There won’t be another Hastings show for eight months, which sounds terrible.

Looks like I will miss.  Duck hunting in the morning.  Give me an excuse to miss the wedding.  Then the reception and dance.

I will miss another oppertunity to see Derek's new set up.  Pheasant operner in SD is October 20th.  Then my brother comes from AK in November for 2 wks to deer and pheasant hunt.

Hope to see the members at the Christmass gathering.

It sucks that all the shows are ending. We will be out of town this weekend for my brides birthday getaway.

Anoka finale is also running this weekend. They usually end the weekend before and a lot of guys from this side of the cities head over to that show. Anoka is running during the day for this one though, at the Anoka fairgrounds, so I plan to make it out to Hastings. I try to make sure I make it to Hastings at least once a season, the last one is always a great time.

No. St. Paul had their last History Cruze on Friday too. The place was PACKED. Nearly as many cars and people as when BTTF was going.

We're planning to get over to Hastings on Saturday if the weather cooperates. Right now they are saying that it could be a little wet but the forecast may change in the next couple of days.

Over the weekend I read that the Highway 61 bridge is scheduled to close at 6 PM on Saturday as they get ready to put the new span in place. The shedule has changed several times so what I read in the Sunday paper may no longer be the latest info. If it is accurate, however, people coming from the north would be able to use the bridge to arrive but not to leave downtown Hastings.

We don't know too many of the NCC members but will look for any Chevelle owners/cars that we recognize from the Friendly Chev show or from pics on the website.

UPDATE: I went to the MnDOT site http://www.dot.state.mn.us/hastingsbridge/ (Wednesday at noon) where they indicate the 3-day closure is scheduled for Saturday through Monday but don't indicate a time.

It was bitter sweet knowing it was the last one for the year. I would say the turnout was a little lighter than a good night but still a good showing. John D stopped by and we car pooled down in the Buick, John did some test driving for me, always good to get another’s feedback, thanks John. As soon as I got out of the car I realized I should have brought a jacket the wind coming off the river was chilly.

We ran into Frank and family as well as Terry who was the only one I saw with an ice cream cone. Chris if you were there we missed you.

The bridge float was cool to see, really big stuff moving very slowly sure hope it works. The next Hastings car show is eight month away, should be interesting to see the progress on the bridge. We also ate at the Busted Nut for the first time, good food there.

I wasnt able to make it to either fanale yesterday. Picked up a few jobs saturday morning and the rest of the day consolidating tools from 2 tool boxes into one. Took over 3 hours just to empty and organize my wrench drawer and my socket drawer and im still not finished. Its taken 2 full weekends so far just to get my tool box organized just right so I can move one tool box into storage. This is the first time ive ever consolidated my tools from working in the field with my home tools.

Next up is consolidating, sorting and organizing around 20 years of many random boxes of nuts, bolts and washers. As well as plugs, caps, fittings, terminals, brake hardware, push pins and door panel clips, exhaust donuts and hangers, and many other doo dads.

Sounds like some pre-baby organizing/nesting going on there Chris!  hyper
