Our son get's up at 4 a.m. to get ready for work at Menard's on the early stocking shift, and woke us up this a.m. and told us to go the lowest level.
The lightning, north winds, hail, and rain were incredible. When I left the house, there were 15 year old trees uprooted in our neighborhood, and all the wooden power line poles going south from CR 42 on Pilot Knob towards Target were snapped off but still standing about 10 feet in front of the buried pole that was left. The fire dept. had it closed off since the power lines were all sagging and on the ground near Target.
And, we get to do it again around midnight tonight! This reminds me of the June when we moved here in 2000. Same deal every other day. The water park in Eagan was flooded out for a weekend that June.
Hope everyone else faired o.k.

Got pretty crazy here last night too. No trees or wires down but a few traffic lights are out in various spots. It was tough to get up at 6am this morning for work after essentially being woken up and not being able to get back to sleep for a few hours until it finally quieted down.

While you guys were busy arguing about the glass of water. I drank it!
I normally sleep like crap. It was a great light show last night looking off in the distance to the NW. No damage that I saw. We left the pool cover off since the kids had dropped a couple inches off the water level over the weekend.

We had some very strong winds and heavy rain might have had hail also but I never would have heard it for the thunder. The lightning and thunder was spectacular it never stopped, there was a constant roar; at first I thought it was tornado activity it sounded like the classic freight-train going down the street.
Power went out at 0413 and was not restored till 0608. We were lucky this time.
Pretty much slept right thru it. The wife and dog were up watching radar on TV and would've woke me if it was bad enough... We did loose another branch off a Maple in the front yard. That poor tree has a black cloud over it. It has lost 4 major branches in 12 years.
Stan, we moved here in 2000 also and that summer was the worst weather I can remember. We lost part of our roof in a straight line wind and went without power for several days numerous times that year. I finally had enough and bought a generator. It's been good insurance as we've only lost power a few times since then. 5,000 watt continuous backfed thru the dryer plug runs everything but the A/C...
Our neighborhood got hit hard. Lots of trees crushed houses and cars locally. Could even keep count on the amount of up rooted trees. We faired ok though. Thank God for a covered garage.
