Cruise In/Cancer benefit for Melissa Eastberg (my Wife)

As some of you may know my Wife is battling stage 3 breast cancer. She
has been having incredible progress and is beating it but the medical
bills are starting to pile up and she is currently on medical leave.

We are hosting a Cruise in / Fundraiser on June 2nd at the Eagles Club
in Owatonna. The cruise in will go from 3:00 to 5:00 and it is my
understanding we will have the entire parking lot for the Cruise in.
There will be a meal of pulled pork sandwiches from 4:00 to 7:00 and
live entertainment from 7:00 to 11:00. There will be a silent auction
through out the night and the tables will be closed every 1/2 hour.
Auction sheets will have description, donated by, value and minimum
bid. Meal tickets will be $6.00 or $7.00 the day of the event. Children under 3 are free. As we are in the process of organizing this event this is just a tentative schedule of events.

I have never organized a Cruise in before so if anyone has any
suggestions on how to make it as enjoyable as possible please let me
know.

Thank you,

Kurt Eastberg

Kurt, great news that she's making progress! nana

I have to check Jenna's work schedule, but if we can make it, we'll bring the Model T.

Kurt, the club officers have been noodling on a way to support you and your family since you are part of the 'club family' as well.  My apologies for not coming up with something sooner...

This sounds like a great event to support you, so I encourage ALL members (running Chevelle or not) to participate on the cruise in if at all possible!

Let's show Kurt that we are a club that takes care of each other, which I know we are.  thumbsup

My wife and I will try to make it if at all possible.

Thank you guys so much. Derek, I have a friend from Owatonna who is thinking about bringing a Model T as well. The cruise in starts at 3:00 pm but due to the number of people that are planning on coming it would probably be prudent to show up earlier then that. Even though I no longer have a Chevelle I always keep my membership with this club because of all the great people that make this club what it is. Thank all of you again.

She opened a account at the US Bank in Owatonna yesterday but she is waiting for her sister to sign a signature card as she is a financial advisor and is helping Melissa keep everything in order. Whatever funds are raised, Thrivent Financial will match. The account should be ready to go in a couple of days. Thank you everyone for the support, we appreciate it very much.

Maybe we can all try to some how meat up around 1:30 or 2:00 and roll in together? Support like this is a big deal as some of us know. If you don't mind Kurt, I'll spread the word about the fundraiser. It's on the NCC calender with a map quest link.

Wow a matching donation is way cool. Even if I can't make the event, I will certainly contribute thru the account so you get the matching funds.

It would be very cool if everyone cruised in as a group. Due to the number of cars I suspect that are going to show up you guys might want to actually be at the Eagles club by 2:00. I want to make sure you all get a spot. The matching funds thing is pretty nice but there are alot of technicalitys that go along with it. I am really hoping that the lower doses of chemo help her. She has been taking some pretty strong mess all week for the pneumonia but she isn't really showing signs of improvement as far as that goes.

Here is a link to the event page I have set up on Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/events/388577611174903/ We should have room for about 70 cars. It would be helpful if I could get a count of cars that are coming so I can make sure you all have a spot waiting. I really want to make sure sure that everyone here and from the MNGMP have a spot.

I make hand turned pens and I would like to donate a couple for the auction. If I bring them to the May meeting, is there someone that can get them to Kert.

Sorry for the late reply, I have been working a crazy amount of hours. Thank you for wanting to donate the pens, I am sure someone will be able to bring them down, if not I can give you my address and you could mail them down.

We would be happy to see you at the meeting and, absolutely, we will find a way to get them to Kurt in a timely manner.

Look forward to meeting you...thumbsup

Here is a copy of the flyer we have for Melissa's benefit. She is doing a lot better but still needs as much rest as she can get.

We are getting alot of great responses for donations for the silent auction. We are receiving items from Year One, Tucker Hibbert, and Napa Auto Parts. Napa is going so far as donating 4 passes for the NHRA Nationals at BIR with a meet and greet with Ron Capps and a lot of shop tools and equipment as well. We are receiving a wide variety of other items as well. There will truly be something for everyone. I hate to say it but we probably need a bigger location but we are just going to have to make do with what we have. I will post updates as they are available. Thank you again everyone for your continued support.

Chad, at the April meeting it was suggested that club members meet up at the Cabela's parking lot in Owatonna.  Sound o.k.?

Thought I would bring this back up to the top. We are still planning on being there, it should be an awesome day for a top down cruise. Looks to be 75 and sunny. About 70 miles for us. Looks like our 65, a Javalin and a 85 Monte at least. Hopeing to bring a couple more, but who knows. Anything more on meeting at Cabela's or are we on our own. Whatever works, I'm sure we will find whoever is there.beers

This event fell off my radar.  Do we need a roll call for those going?  Firm up a meeting place and time?

Could someone post an address for those unable to attend to send a donation to?

Thanks Dan for bringing this back to the top.

Kevin further down in the post Kurt had added an attachment with an address where you can send donations.  You can also go to any US Bank and donate to a fund that has been set up for Melissa.

Sorry I haven't kept everyone updated. I just started a new job to have more time at home with the family and I have been busy catching up with things around the house.

The cruise in is scheduled to start at 3:00 but I would recommend getting there a little before that to make sure you guys have a spot together. The weather should be perfect and I hope everyone has a fun time. I am a little nervous as I have never planned aything like this before. We are really hoping for a good turn out and it looks like there will be.

Melissa has a benefit account set up at US Bank. You can just go in to any US Bank and tell them that you want to make a donation to Melissa Eastbeg Donation Account. We are unable to see you has donated so we cant thank everyone who donated personally so I will tell you all now that we are extremely gratefull to those who make a donation to the account as well as those who come to the benefit. We truly appreciate any help given from the bottom of our hearts.

If you are coming from I35 you can take the Bridge St exit and head east until you come to Elm Ave ( I believe it is the 5th stoplight). Take a left on Elm and go down 3-4 blocks and it will be on your left.

Thanks again everyone.

Went to US Bank tonight and once they found the account it was simple to donate.  Had the option of giving a name and address or be anonymous.

Here is a map I pulled off of Google. I hope it works.

For those of you needing directions to the benefit here are directions from the I-35/Bridge Street interchange in Owatonna. If you need further directions please let me know.

Hey folks, Chad and I are out of town this weekend, so we aren't able to help coordinate a meet up to go in together.

It would be nice if someone could step up and take this one to determine a meet up place and time to roll in as NCC proud!   Can someone take this on and coordinate it?  dunno

Thanks!  thumbsup

Thank you to everyone who came to Melissa's benefit today. I am sorry if I wasn't able to get to talk to everyone that much. There weren't as many cars as I hoped for but the number of people in general was way more than we expected. I hope everyone had a good time. Thank you as well to all who have donated to her benefit account, it will go a long way to helping with all of her medical bills.

Sorry I wasn't able to make it. I got a call Friday afternoon to come back to trucking on Monday and I had to get the renewal tab and bring the truck home from storage. There was just too much to do to be ready on such short notice to leave it all until Sunday.
