Sorry to hear of your loss John, those small town hardware stores cannot be replaced. We still have one that has been in the family for over 100 years, but the main owner passed a year or so ago(in his 90's) and I don't think his son is really that interested in keeping it going. Keep thinking that one of these days, when I need that really hard to find thing, they won't be there.banghead

Kind of glad I don't live very close to you, I have NO willpower when it comes to sales like this. hyper

Yeah, this place has been there for years. Still did/cut window glass, re-did screens, and had everything but space. The place was kinda like "Floyd's Barber Shop" for the local goomba's. You'd go in and there'd be 3 or 4 old-timers sitting around in back with the door open, smoking and sipping coffee.

What's worse is a few years ago their next-door neighbor closed down shop, Palm's Bakery - a little family-owned bakery that had THE BEST doughnuts, rolls, and fresh bread. My 1st house was about a block from here, and if the wind was right... MMMMMmmmmmm.

Losing the locally owned stores to the big box buildings really sucks. I've wished for a long time that I had a local store close by. We do have an Ace a few miles away with better hard to find items selection but it's still not like the old wood floor stores.

I grew up and was raised my entire life in St. Louis Park. (Class of 1991 from St. Louis Pk high school). So it breaks my heart when these places I have known and grown with end up closing.
