24 days away Until Car Craft. One of the greatest weekends of the summer. Early Mornings, hanging out with old buddies, awesome cars and the smell of race gas. Looking forward to seeing all the Chevelle's in the front of the line on Friday and Saturday mornings. Lets hope for great weather. I imagine the chevelle club will be parked in the same spot as last. Look forward to seeing everyone's cars.

Yeah, same spot. It seems to do well for us, and we can expand. I think we could plug up the corner and around to (mod edit) seems to have moved, we get a lot more foot traffic too now but we have lots of grass and some shade too.

Sounds like they will still allow the large clubs to rope off. Same deal on show day.....any spots within the rope that aren't filled by 10 am go to any vehicle.

People were getting there Wednesday, maybe even earlier, to start roping off spots.  New rule is no roping off until 3pm on Thursday to allow vendors to get in and set up.   Other than that, old rules apply.

As I usually do, I've taken the Thursday (7/19) before CC off to get the car ready and pick up credentials (then go to bed early in prep for "Dawn Patrol").

In the past "Pushrod" and I have hooked up and staked our claim to the spot with our "mysteriously donated" road cones. I don't forsee a change in this plan... one way or another we'll have "our spot" roped off on Thursday afternoon.

Guys... the "Chuckwagon" is gone. Over the last 18mos. I've sold off all of my camping/Scouting gear. It's gone.
The days of "Eggs in a Hole", Breakfast Burrito's, 'CaminoMcMuffins, and "boiled coffee with a bouquet of propane" are just a sweet memory for those who showed up at 3am on Como!!

Is it essential to pick up your paperwork the day before? I am planning on being there for the early "Dawn Patrol" but will it be ok to pick up the paperwork on Friday? I have to travel that week and won't be back until Thursday night.

Also do you guys meet up somewhere on Friday morning?

Thanks

I know im not alone in saying they should just get rid of policy of roping off spots. It got so out of hand 2 years ago that I even heard rumors guys were roping off as early as tuesday, maybe even Monday. The last two years I remember riding in with Bryan right when they opened in the morning and noticing that every inch of most of the streets were roped off.

If you were an individual that wanted to enjoy the show without being affiliated with a club, even if you got there early enough to be the very first one in the gate on Saturday morning, you still end up having to park a ways away from "all the action" if you will because the entire fairground around the main part of the show is roped off already.

No... unless they've changed it you can pickup your credentials on Friday morning, but you'll be in the MONSTER queqe line-up of people getting in, then have to peel off and go to the registration tent/area and get your stuff.

Friday AM (verrrryyyy early, like 3am early) we line up on westbound Como Ave., starting at the entry gate and stringing out eastbound toward (and past) Snelling.

(There's usually a group of sphincter's that line up on the eastbound side ((ignoring the 500+ people already waiting)) that try to weasle in when the gates open. Every westbounder tries to "bumper to nose" themselves and leave these impolite items of the male reproductive anatomy hanging in the middle of the intersection to get clobbered by a bus... until somebody with terminal "MN nice" will let 5 of them zip in...)

Pushrod and I will do our very best to "Stake a Claim" to our usual spot - but it's first come-first served. I'll be working up a post later tonight with details for everyone.

Tim, I've gone as late as 5 o'clock or so on Thursday to pick up the registration.  I'm not sure how late that goes, but will need to look into it as I'm also travelling and not returning until late afternoon Thursday.

We dont mention the R word regarding these shows, but I have a feeling with the way this summer is going, we probably shouldnt mention the "H" word either. (That H word would be the first thing you noticed when you stepped out of your house today).

Off the heat topic and back to the 'subject'...

I'm sure others got this email, and I'll probably do this since I live in the south not far from QA1.  It's about meeting up at QA1 in Lakeville Friday morning (the 20th) between 7-9:15 a.m., then cruising up to the fairgrounds together and getting VIP entry into the fairgrounds.  Then I'll head over to our roped off area.

We can pick a southern meeting place before going into QA1 together if anyone is interested?

banner

QA1 is excited to host “Cruise with QA1” Friday July 20, from  7 – 9:15 a.m. as part of the 2012 Car Craft Summer Nationals.

Because you pre-registered for the 2012 Car Craft Summer Nationals, QA1 is inviting you to spend the morning at our Lakeville, MN facilities before cruising alongside others up to the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.

Not only can you show off your car, take part in shop tours to gain an inside look at QA1, enjoy coffee and doughnuts, but participants also cruise with us and gain preferred VIP entrance to Car Craft Summer Nationals on Friday.

To take part in the preferred entrance into the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, you must have already been to registration to pick up your 2012 Car Craft Summer Nationals credentials.  You can pick up your Car Craft Summer Nationals credentials at Registration from noon – 6 p.m. Thursday, July 19 at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.  While at QA1, you will receive a cruise map and specific instructions regarding preferred entry into the Fairgrounds.

While at QA1, you also have the chance to win great prizes!  Prizes include, QA1 t-shirts, Minnesota Twins tickets and, if you arrive at QA1 before 7 a.m., you will be entered into a drawing to win the grand prize of four double adjustable Stocker Star Shocks!

The event at QA1 is free to attend, but entries are limited so reserve your space soon!  Reply to cruise@qa1.net with your first and last name, email address, phone number and number of people attending by Tuesday, July 17 to let us know you’re coming!

We look forward to seeing you!

I thought this would be a good idea but it looks like my flight won't be in until 7 PM Thursday evening so I won't be picking anything up on Thursday. I'll be in the long line Friday with everyone else.

From the little I remember, they have a separate line for non-preregistered cars and it's MUCH shorter than the preregistered line, because most people think it will be quicker to preregister. It may save a few bucks but it doesn't save any time...banghead

VIP entrance is the main gate on Snelling where the vendors and staff come in, which is opened up BEFORE everyone lined up on Como get in... RSE competitors get a VIP pass. Still have mine :)

And there are 2 Gates?

1. for VIP at Snelling ?

2. for non VIP off Como ?

Still not clear when reading the Cruise info.  To participate, you must pre-register and pick up credential???

Yes John, it would seem a change would be a good idea.

Received my confirmation from QA1 today.  There is a link in the email to use if you haven't registered for CC yet.

Good morning!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU for signing up for “Cruise with QA1” next Friday, July 20th! Your attendance is greatly appreciated and we can’t wait to give you the inside scoop on QA1, see your awesome car and make our way up to Car Craft at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.

An email will be coming your way in the next few days that contains all the details you’ll need for the morning. Including a map with directions to QA1 and the cruise route to the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. So stay tuned!

Also, if you know of any other car enthusiasts that would like to come to the event too, send them our way! Just give them the email: cruise@qa1.net and we’ll take care of the rest.

Let me know if you have any questions, I’d be happy to help!

See you soon!

I am confussed:

1. A VIP enterance

2. A pre-registered line.

3. A non-preregistered line.

To use the VIP and the QA-1 cruiseyou need to pre-register and pick up your Credencials on Thursday.

You can pre-register and use the pre-registerd line; but you  have to pick up your credentials on Thursday.

You can not register and use the non-preregisted line and register and pick up you credentials on Friday.

The VIP gate is open to all Real Street Eliminator contestants as well as credentialed VIPs (specific display cars, vendors, media, etc).

Credentials are to be picked up Thursday, ar at the time of entrance (QA1 cruise-in cars have to have credentials picked up on Thursday)

On Friday/Saturday/Sunday, the fairgrounds is completely closed until about 7am. At that time, the regualr gate opens and they stage vehicles inside the fairgrounds, but not in the actual show area. At that time, pre-registered (who have already gotten thier credentials) cars get in line to go in. Cars that haven't pre-registered or picked up credentials go to the big tent and take care of that. Once done, they get in the same line as everyone else.

The QA1 deal is only for pre-registered cars, and as part of thier cruise to the show, the QA1 participants get to go in the VIP gate (and bypass the line at the main entrance).

Hope this helps clear it up.

This QA1 offering pretty much NEGATES the "Dawn Patrol"!! Why sit in line at 0-dark-thirty for 4 hours to have guys just zip in the front gate!

I think this requires a change in SOP

Yep...

Unless you are walking, basically forget about ANY entrance to the fairgrounds except for Como Ave. This is where 99.9% of the entrants/participants enter or exit the facility, regardless of time of day. The .1% (VIP's, etc.) are the only ones allowed to enter the grounds via Snelling, and entry here requires special credentials.
