I have gotten so sick of what they have done to destroy the car market for the folks whos' passions kept it alive. The big investors who only buy like a spec stock and have no love care or knowledge of the cars. Then you have the idiots who watch the show and have the VERY SAME CAR sitting in the weeds in the back yard. Their car is actually a $1,000 on a good day being generous parts car. But they saw that same car go for 100,000 and it was owned by some gay NY designer that redid the car in nasty puke for a fashion show. So if you did not know from reading this SCREW THE BJ AUCTION.

I’ve never been to one but would like to go some day.  Steve, are the cars all A+ cars or are some of them just average cars?  I just have to think there are some good deals going across the block that the camera fails to catch.

John had posted awhile back about some Elkys on Hwy 10. One appeared to be a decent Elky that they were just hacking to make it look nice. The owner there said he saw "THE VERY SAME CAR" at and auction going for so much money this Elky will be getting close to that. Ok a 64-65 Elky with just a paint job fair interior and new tires, not even near what John Delke started with on Blackie. Guess the price he thinks it is worth, mid to upper 20s he thought. This is the same place that has a blue METAL FLAKE 80s Elkythey have sat on for at least 3-4 years I remember seeing it there. That car has sat outside and the poor work shows through with bubbles and blisters. They also had a red 92 RS Camaro just like my wifes. That one had 140,000 miles cracked dash covered with carpet, and ripped seats with cheap seat covers, sagging headliner, poor tires and since it was the Heritage pkg car a $5950 price tag. He saw those cars are more valuable at auction to.

While I agree, Barrett-Jackson and Craig Jackson are whats wrong with this hobby. The cars you see around here that are overpriced junk will never sell for what the owner thinks its worth. The market will always dictate the price and either the owner will learn now or later when he still has the car for sale years down the road. These type of people have whats called, Barrett-Jacksonitis.

Kevin, not everything that sells at Barrett-Jackson is high caliber restored show cars. There are a lot of normal everyday type cars too. 70's-90's era Vettes, 70's and 80's Camaro's, Mustangs, Firebirds, Etc. Exotics. Few motorcycles, race cars, etc. Not all high end Hemi's, Yenko's or 60's era Vettes. They have the traditional muscle cars like 350 Malibu's as well. Unfortuneatly, they all go for a much higher price as the clientele is a bit more in the upper class pay scale then the average car guy.

The last few years it seemed like every time a Chevelle was about to come on the stage. They would go to a commercial. You can see what cars are coming up next since they are lined up just off stage.

Kevin you can view the auction inventory online and sort it in various ways.  The quality and desirablity typically rises the closer you get to Saturday evening and then starts to drop off again into Sunday.  I sorted by Make and Model but I think you can sort by auctiuon order as well.

Saw a '69 Chevelle silver with a blue vinyl top/numbers matching 396/4 speed/AC car cross the block for $32K last night.  Seemed reasonable to me.  But it's early in the auction before the big wallet crazies get involved...
