My wife Jody, son Jonathan and myself made a last minute road trip down to LeClaire Iowa to check-out  the Antique Archaeology (American Pickers) shop. We went down there chasing a Fisk tire sign tat was featured on the show.  It was long gone but we had the pleasure of meeting Mike Wolfe.

That's pretty cool. I wonder how much more business they get from the show? I know the Pawn Shop in Vegas boomed from it.

I've watched AP from the beginning.  It's fun to see what some of the 'treasures' are worth and the negotiations that happen.  The last few episodes were in MN and had a couple of brothers with a ton of car stuff.  One of the brothers was living inside a van inside of a pole barn!  Kind of like Chris Farley... 'livin' in a van down by the river!'.

That's cool that you met Mike!

I also watch Pawn Stars too.  The format is very predictible ("Let me have my buddy look at it to see what it's worth...."), but kind of fun to watch.

My latest DVR addition is Full Throttle Saloon on TruTV.  Nothing like watching some Sturgis biker bar drama, drunk people, and mayhem to make a good TV show!

Stan, if you think the tv show is fun you really need to witness it in person.  Kinda like Dumb & Dumber with lots of T&A.  The tv show is kinda like someone telling you how good sex is!

I agree. I've been there a number of times when I was riding regularly. It is a real fun place with some great stuff to see. When you're standing in a crowd and a bike or two ride right through it with some additional ornaments on the back or some nice looking chaps walk through it is very interesting. I have some neat pictures and film from the experience. Then Molly Hatchet comes on stage. What could be better.

I know the two brothers featured on one episode of Pickers. They live in St Peter. I talked to them at the Iola swap meet this past July about the show. The one they did was filmed before that in like May or June and first aired Dec 4th.

They said it's a little different then what you see on TV. For example, the stuff doesn't get loaded into that little van, it gets loaded into a U-Haul that follows.  As far as additional business because of the show, they really don't need it as they get paid $150,000 per episode.

I kind of wondered where the money came from. I always thought it was funny when they had a show from somewhere like Florida and showed there net value at the end of show, we bought all this stuff for $150, value it at $225, made $75. You drove to Florida for $75!
