Drag racing safety-bad crash video

You don't see the actual crash, but the aftermath speaks volumes. This car had a basic cage which most likely saved him. His helmet came off somewhere during the roll too. A couple bad words.

Remind me never to race at that track!
Like the comments on YouTube, the rescue team and paramedics need some SERIOUS help - and not just equipment. That guy should have had a CV collar on, a mini-board behind him, and his torso & head immobilized to the board before they even started to pry the car open!

Did you also notice that not ONE person in the entire area was carrying a fire extinguisher??!!

All kids of stupid going on there...and EVERYONE is calling them on it. Good...this is the kind of silliness that normally costs people their lives.

Oh- in addition to performing proper tech inspection and having a fire extinguisher on hand, how about some jaws of life? The sledge hammer/prybar unit just doesn't seem to work as well...

1. Paramedics should have had been in the car with a collar being installed at that point.
2. No clear direction as for rescue was being performed. Track Safety Officials should be in uniform or vests no clear leader or rescue.
3 Jaws of life should have been used to extract individual in a timely manner.
4. No persons at any time during this did I hear a stay back, clear area, or anything of that nature.
5. If that person had been seriously injured, hey as much as I would hate to say it, the track was responsible. and holds a responsibility to provide well trained safety crews.
If the video of the rescue had been shown and compared to another track safety crew, that driver would own the track.

Yes I have been around some nasty accidents at work and have had to deal with stupidity. So much that I was first aid/ first responder at work for years and seeing fingers come off is not pretty. When your around accidents and there is no clear chain of command things take longer and go from bad to worse with more witnesses/ gawkers. I am not saying I have worked perfect but having a accident victim calm only to have a gawker come up and scream OMG look at all of the blood! Did not help the person who spoke no english and I had to attempt to calm them back down.

The guy clocked a 9.7 @ 119 going sideways through the lights. With the basic cage he had, he is lucky to be alive. Especially after loosing his helmet during all that.

You would like to think they would have some decent rescue equipment there for this sort of thing. With the amount of time it took for the guy to walk over a quarter mile to get to the wreck. The fire extinguishers could have long since came out and went by that time. Car didnt look like it was on fire or continued to stay on fire once it came to rest so any fire extinguishers would have never been dug out to be used. Therefore not end up showing in the video.
