Sure would be fun, thats 3000 miles, kind of a long haul and expenive. 12 to 13 nights in a hotel plus food and fuel.  But it would be fun.

Yeah, sucks I missed that.

Terry went on it last year. Sounded like he had fun.

If I don't go back to trucking, I may consider it this year. I think the hotels along the route give the participants a decent group rate. It's feeding fuel to a hungry big block that would cost a small fortune. I'm pretty confidant the Chevelle could do that trip. Should be 10 nights max hotel and maybe 9, since Arlington is only a 16 hour marathon home. I did that on the last day bringing the '52 back.

This... Power tour would be fun, but I think a long-haul like that would be more enjoyable to do with people you know.

We should organize an NCC-caravan-to-Chevelleabration some year if we can get enough interest... seriously, what's not to enjoy (besides the Nashville heat in June). ~300 beautiful Chevelles at the show each day, drag racing one night, autocross another, and plenty of beer-drinking and socializing in the parking lot each night with a bunch of internet acquaintences from Team Chevelle

Just be prepared to keep up with those of us with a 6th gear. gearbanger

Great idea Derrick! Count me in Chevelleabration is on my list of things to do, while I can still do things.

How many do you think we would need to make a caravan? Let see 850 miles each way; Mitch would drive that in an afternoon but some might prefer to do it in two days, the event is three days long (?) plus two days back works out to five nights lodging. Sounds like a plan could come together.

But you will need to drive slow some of us only have five speeds.

Cannonball rules... and apply the same theory to evading police as encountering a Grizzly Bear in the woods "You don't have to be faster than the bear, just faster than your slowest buddy"  laughing

OK, maybe not...

Instead of Chevellebration, another option is the ACES Midwest Chevelle Regionals in Olathe, Kansas (SE KC metro area) in Sept.  Just under a 7 hour drive via I35 from the Twin Cities.  http://macc.chevelles.net/regional.htm

Tina and I went in 2006 with the red Chevelle we had at that time, and had a good time.  Here's proof: http://macc.chevelles.net/images/2006show/Shinker_302.jpg

Dan Williams and others from the Heartland Chevelle club were there too.  Of course, the best part was sitting in the hotel parking lot drinking cold ones after the festivities.

They had a cruise, some vendors, and lots of good people to talk to about Chevelles.  I think there were around 200 Chevelles or so?

It might be a good way for some of us to venture out without going all the way to TN this year.  Then we could do TN next year?  headscratch

Way too early for me to commit, but it depends on the status of my car...

If the Chevelle is done in time for Car Craft, then this is a possibility.
If the Chevelle is not done, we might spend a week driving around Vermont in a Model T... which means the vacation budget will be exhausted.

I might be interested in going too, or maybe the Duluth trip that was talked about. I'm not sure I could do both so close together.

I went down to KC maybe 8 years in a row when it was in early August, hotter than blazes and zero shade. whewThey moved it to the last weekend in Sept and that is the same weekend that the Route 66 show in Springfielld. I talked to a few people that were there this year and it sounds like it has really picked up. I might go to KC this year if you guys go. You could pick me up on the way.tiphat

I wish to put myself down as a, "I will know later".  Just by chance I have a vacation week already summited then.  I got a full plate this summer though so I might not be able to swing it.  Would love to it sometime in the future too.
