OK..things got weird on my birthday, and the day after.

Stuff I got that I wanted:

Pot Roast Dinner

Modern Warfare 3


Stuff I got that I didn't want:

Really bad heartburn sensation

Ambulance ride

2 stents

5 new prescriptions

rehab and diet program


I won't soon forget my 45th birthday...

I'm fine now, and will be for a long time.

Don't tell the world about this (on Facebook etc.) if you don't mind. I'd hate for something like this to keep me from getting a job or whatever. It was minor, it's fixed, and everything is fine now...but, well, you guys understand.

Well at least you got MW3 to play while in rehab, though I imagine they probably want whole body movement and not just fingers and thumbs. Glad to here you are OK though.

John- Of course I play multiplayer. ScotchWhisky is my name on there.

Chris P- they have a pretty aggressive rehab program planned for me, and I'm more concious of such things now.

Mitch- Some day I will tell some stories. I've led a pretty interesting life (so far) and one of the reasons I wanted to move away from SoCal to here was for a fresh start. It's worked out just fine. I mean, I was no pimp/addict/theif or anything like that, but I certainly enjoyed everything life had to offer. Privacy-wise, anyone that looks this hard to find dirt on me deserves to find something, right?

Derek- not a chance. It's important to have periods of high stress and adrenoline occasionally to keep the heart muscle strong. The wagon is part of my rehab.

Chris- I have power steering and a quick ratio box. I couldn't make it much easier. Hitting the perfect line is what's stressful; piloting the car is not.

I will be losing some weight and eating right etc. I already quit smoking at the beginning of the year and we've been eating better food since we got married. The damage was done awhile ago, I'm sure. I'm glad they found it and fixed it, and now I'll be on meds to make everything work better. I'll be fine.

Holy Crap! That's 2 youngish guys I know that have had serious issues. Glad you're OK.


I won't go into details here, but Rowdy from Team Chevelle had a serious heart issue that almost took him out forever about 3 weeks ago. You can read about it on Team Chevelle, and he has been on there too talking about it some as well as on Facebook, so I don't feel that I am oversharing. He's up and about, including making an appearance at SEMA.

Scott, all I will say is we are all greatful you are o.k.!

I'm only 3 years older than you... and I had a cholesterol check at work a few weeks ago, and needless to say, my hereditary high readings haven't gone down over the past few years.  My Mom and Dad both had very high cholesterol until they got on medication, so I'm sure that's in my near future.  In fact, I'll be going to the dr. in the next couple of weeks to have them check it and probably have to get on medication as I tried the diet and excercise routine and that didn't help anything.  angry

Wow Scott, glad you're OK. I need to start changing my habits too. Heart attacks are a tradition in my family, I think my Dad and all his brothers had at least one. My Dad has had triple bypass and he and my sister both take insulin. Up until a few years ago I could eat anything I wanted, but I gained a few pounds each year and now I realize how out of shape I am.

On a better note, how do you like MW3? I need to pick it up, Black Ops is getting worn out.

Bryan- ya I read Rowdy's posts on there and those from his pals who were cool enough to keep the TC site up to date on his progress. I'm glad to see he's doing much better so soon. It's encouraging.

Stan- The cholesterol thing is part of it...mine is high too. My Dr. was straight up and said the meds will do more to make me better than diet and excercise will. I was pretty surprised to hear him say that, but I appreciated the honesty. Of course a low fat/low sodium/low cholesterol diet and some regular exercise will help too. I'll be cutting back on the donuts (dammit).

Heart attacks are also a tradition in my family. My grandfather died from one massive one while sitting at the kitchen table one morning. He collapsed on the table and by the time the ambulance got there, he was gone. My Dad had one in his 50s- he got through it and also has stents, but refused to exercise. Now he has COPD too. He's kinda grumpy about...well, just about everything.

They did say a lot of it was genetic too, but I've not been a saint. I figured it would all catch up with me someday, and hopefully I'd have insurance. It did, and I do.

Steve- MW3 is really good. The maps are rich and not easily mastered. If you like the other games in the series, it's more of the same. Nothing radically new- some different features but you could pop it in and go online immediately and not suck. That's what I did. I haven't started playing the 'game' yet- I've only been playing online so far. The stupid hospital trip really cut into my playing time.

I think the last week for me gave my heart a good eanough work out to test the waters, but I am also trying to get more in shape and less suceptible. My dad never made it long enough to ahve the heart attack he was sure he would get. I don't plan on leaving that early.
