Why I hate Barret Jackson and other Auctions

I refuse to watch these idiot auctions that have the top names build custom 1 off cars. Along with the purist #s matching crowd that deduct points for not having the correct air in the tires. They have destroyed the car market with the ego and BS they spew, plus every dolt and their brother now owns a huge $ car. Please see example below and tell me I'm wrong, this is not a rare barn find, more of an abandoned pile of parts.

While I agree with your perception of B-J, the car in question IS a first gen Camaro AND a convertible. Both highly sought after models. It WOULD be very helpful if he listed clear pics of the data and VIN tags ON THE CAR and the info to know what the heck it is. Could be a plain jane 6 cylinder car. Having a clear, transferable title, in this day is worth a couple grand alone. The bonding process to get a title in this state is costly. Personally, I won't look twice at a car with a "bill of sale" for transfer.

I feel it will sell for that price. We have seen '66-67 Chevelle convertible basket case/rust buckets posted on here go for more than that.

Does seem a little overpriced, but if everything is there and it’s not a complete rust bucket, I don’t think it’s over priced by too much, maybe 25%. If someone with Mitch’s skills and equipment bought it they could be driving it next spring.

What a great a candidate for a L79/T400 with some suspension upgrade.

I will say however BJ really can get crazy when two drunks want the same car and have too much money.

Your age is showing. Many would be thinking LSX/700r4 with all tubular arms and a R&P conversion.

I love the "2 drunks" analogy..laughing

Would bring that money easily if it were assembled...

I laugh at the "barn find" description though...

Did you notice no engine or trans, oh yes front fenders are missing as well. If it was a complete car and you had a new Dynacorn body it would be possible to put something together for a somewhat reasonabl price. but $4000 for a freakin basket case that is not all ther and call it a barn find no.

The parts that are listed as missing I wouldn't want anyway... rusty fenders and an old carbureted SB and no overdrive. No thanks.

Or, some of the work is already done, first thing you woud do if you got it would be to disassemble it.  Then you still have six to nine months to find a engine trany comb.

They're just a lot easier to sell if you can see it all together, and you know someone else hasn't lost a bunch of hard-to-find pieces... It would suck putting a car together that someone else took apart, especially if they didn't label anything.

Even if it does need everything redone, and a lot of sheetmetal, the price doesn't seem bad for a '68 Camaro Convertible.

This was my Camaro when I bought it....hyper Every nut, bolt and screw was removed and thrown in 2 boxes. Took me a week to sort it out and have it together enough to back it out of the shop into the driveway...cool Then another few months to locate and replace the missing pieces and get the glass back in the doors.

Just look at all the space in that shop, you could have a 67 and 68, a man can never have to many projects. Hope your day tomorrow goes well.

C'mon Mitch... the differences between '67 and '68 Camaro's are like the few differences between '71 and '72 Chevelles!  Lol

Only differences I know of on the Camaro's are the '67's have vent wing windows and '68's don't (Astro Ventilation in '68?), and the turn signal lights in the grill are different.  Am I missing something?

I actually like the grill lights, it's the side lights that I don't like....and the lack of vent windows. If the '68's had the same side lights as a '69, I would like them better.

Taillights are different too... I prefer the look of the '68, except for the side-markers.
