Anyone had there carbed car Chassis dyno tuned before ? Where to go ? Was it worth it ? Did you learn anything on how to tune your car better from it ? Did you gain any HP or torque from it ?
Thinking this spring to give it a try. Talked to one place that is about 100 miles away called Hitech they tell me $150 / hr and it usually takes 1-2 hr. Never done it or seen it done from a chassis perspective. Just curious what all they would do to carbed car. What is nice it is takes a lot of geuss work out of the rest of the cars dynamics. So it may be worth it. I can not see all that much but if they are good at carbs I cansee where it would not take long at all there is not much to it.
Please share your opinions and experience.
It seems there is not many places around that do this.
HiTech did my 396 with a street avenger on it two years ago. Yes I learned a lot. They went through the distributor springs and weights and the carb jetting. For me it was worth it. I have not heard any bad things about the business. I would give them a positive response.
I have heard good and bad about any chassis dyno depends on who is running it. If you need to do a lot of tuning $450 will get you 4hrs on an engine dyno, then a chassis for a touch up. It is not uncommon for HiTech to hit $1000 on their Chassis tune so depending on how much tune you need to do that is your option.

Dave can you give some specifics of someone who has spent a $1000. on a chassis dyno at HiTech? Were they ripped off or was it justified?
Not sure how you can do an engine dyno with it in the car and then do a chassis "touch up".
They just installed a chassis dyno at TPIS in Chaska where we did my engine. When the weather breaks I will be spending some time (and money) there getting things dialed in. I have a new carb I'm still messing with (one of Holley's new Ultra 750s) and I intentionally kept it fat for the nitrous runs- so I want to dial in the nitrous tune up as well. Lots to do, and while it runs strong now I know it'll be a lot better once it's tuned well.
It knocks down right at 20 mpg on the freeway now...once it's running better, I'm really anxious to see what it can deliver. With the proper tuning, I'm hoping for 25. It's so rich right now, I really think its possible.
It'll be nice to have it idle without stinking up the place too..
I was in there last week checking on used parts they had and a guy left a very large amount of coin ther for a tune on his Mustang. They cut him a break for an idle issue he had and it was till very large. Dyno Tune price is set by # of pulls for the cash, so if you need to make pulls to play with a dist curve, pulls for timing. pulls for jetting, and also play with valve lash or a NOS set up you pay on a per pull basis. Engine Dyno charge is based on hrs there, mine with issues lasted 6 hrs and I had countless pulls plus cam breakin on that engine for $450. The guy who has the turbo Chevelle on E85 that won Dyno Challenge had over a grand at HiTech for some tune work.
If you only need a little work done great use a chassis dyno. I you need to spend hrs getting everything set perfect and want to make loads of changes then an engine dyno maybe less expensive.
