My wife and I went to the Bayfield Applefest this weekend. We really enjoyed the event until about 1:30 when we couldn't walk for the crowds anymore. We plan to go back when there aren't 40,000+ people crammed in 5 square blocks !!!

Traffic was gridlock, bumper to bumper trying to leave. It took 1/2 hour to go less than 1 mile.

Here's a pic of my wife outside one of the quaint shops. I really do have a wife. I think Bowtie Bry and his family met her once and maybe Stan.

We stumbled accidently into the Bayfield Applefest about 8 years ago when we took the long way up to the North Shore.  Those pics look just like what we experienced then.

My wife loved the area and the bay looking out onto the Apostle Islands.  We always talk about going back, but haven't made it yet.  We DO plan on going there next year around this time, but I'll 'suggest' we miss Applefest with all the people!

Shannan and I really enjoy Bayfield and the surrounding area...that's why we chose to get married there 9 days ago!  thumbsup  We were glad Applefest was later than usual this year so we could get married on October 1st like we wanted (it would have been my maternal grandparent's 69th anniversary that day).  Applefest will most likely impact our future anniversary celebrations since we prefer to be there when there isn't so may people.  After Applefest many of the shops and restaruants are only open a week longer before they close for the season.  We were there the weekend after Applefest the last 2 years and the colors are gorgeous and many of the shops have season ending sales.  I think that will be our target weekend most years.

WOW, congrats on the nuptuials !! I hadn't heard about any plans for the big day. So you forfeited the Fall cruise to get married. Guess you had a valid excuse to be absent.

You were probably there for peak color. It was still fairly nice but we could tell it was past peak for most of the trees.

Thansk for the congrats Mitch.  We were before peak and the locals were guessing another week to 10 days.  Must have went fast in between weekends? headscratch
