Here's a shot of the Anoka cruise at 8pm. I rolled in a little before 6 and Terry was there. It was surprisingly not crowded the whole evening, maybe 75% of a normal good weather night.

Was it this way everywhere?

Stan, Tom, Dashboard, and I went down to Farmington last night. This was a NICE show! About 225 cars, a great goodie bag, live band, and a awesome $9 steak dinner at the VFW (or was it Legion?).

The heat was oppressive - as fast as you could drink water down, it sweated out. (I don't like heat, I'm built for the other 9 months of Minnesota!)

Same thing at Pine Island. Only about 1/2 the cars. Which I had remembered about the Farmington show, that only about 45 miles.

Thought about going to the Top 21 show in Shakopee today, but after being in the sauna at the Farmington show last night, decided that was enough for the weekend.

Went for a walk with the wife at 8 a.m., and was soaked through by the time 5 min. into the walk.  I still need to mow, and am NOT looking forward to it.

I have 4 hours of Mecum Auction-Des Moines to scan through on the DVR, so I'll be inside most of the day.  Probably taking the family to a movie this afternoon where it's cool.  I guess this is what it's like living in the southwest or on the gulf of Mexico in the summer!  whewwhewwhew

We hit up a movie yesterday: Soul Surfer at the cheapo Maple Grove theater. Not bad, they CGI'd an arm off the actress nicely.

Farmington was a great plan put together by Gear Lube; it was warm but the company was good.

As John stated the VFW steak fry was excellent, great steak, baked potato a nice salad with all the ice water and lemonade you could drink, served by local beauty queen pageant contestants, for nine bucks! I would have paid nine bucks just to sit in the air-conditioned space for an hour. Did I mention the new ice cream shop in town? We checked that out also.

We learned we could do car shows on hot days if we have just a few creature comforts close. I think Farmington has the potential to be a great south side car show spot, everything is there.

Best part was, even though it was hot and the humidity was ugly we suffered no over heating issues. In fact, John put his new radiator to the test and it functioned well.

I had a big grin on my face driving up route 3 on a very hot summer evening with the A/C cranking out cold air with the temp gauge pegged at 185*; plus, I made it home in time to watch the Twins ninth inning win.

I got to the Pine Island show at 8P and they were wrapping up. There were about only 10 cars there and everyone wasw leaving. I was late to show becuase of  baseball and softball started at 10A it had me tied up most of the day. The 2 young 10yr old gentalmen I was with thought it best we go for a cruise instead. They love the Chevelle on the country roads.

Been in the house all day except for church and tossing a dummy for an energetic lab. She can't understand the weather man. By the looks of things best not venture outside except for necessities. Better plan for providing shade and lots of water for Car Craft. Any battery operating fans out there?

Meet a nice guy by the name of Bill at Pine Island.  He has 3 66 chevelles and a 60 ish delivery sedan.   One of his 66 cars is a drag car, he said it's had a best time of  9.4 and a speed of 138 I think.  Just an old 427 with nos  and a boost he said.  I don't understand any of that.  Do you know him Jim?

You're right Jim.  I just took the recycle and garbage totes out to the curb and broke a total sweat.  6 o'clock news said the heat index is currently 108 degrees!  Rediculous!  whew

This feels sort of like winter when thinking of ways to minimize the time outside in the cold, except it's hot.  Looks like most of the week will be going from AC at home to AC in the car to AC at work and back again...

Our daughter doesn't have AC in her apartment, so she's staying tonight with us.  Something tells me she'll be back for a few more nights.  We tried to tell her that she needed an apt. with AC when she found this one, but 21 year olds don't listen to their parents very much!  doh

This weather really takes the energy and enthusiasm out of doing anything. I really, really hope it isnt going to be like this next weekend.

I mowed. Figured it needed to be done before the watery top could be drained off the pool. Took me forever to do. I got a new grill yesterday too, so I HAD to grill tonight. Bacon wrapped pork loin with grill pack sliced potatos with onions and garlic.

I agree 100%. If it's that HOT. I'm staying where it's cool. No need to go out there and sweat. Where's the FUN in that. This summer has been way too HOT & way too wet for crusing. Guess when it starts to cool down a bit. Every Hot Rod will be out there then. beers
