The whole month of May, we were thinking "Is it EVER going to warm up?"

101deg in Rochester today...

Holy crap! I think I'll clean the basement tonight. No reason to punish myself in this heat...

Been sanding the upstairs bathroom drywall mud. Slow process with the vent covered to keep dust from covering the whole house. I come out looking like a wet powdered doughnut from all the sweat.

Hopefully I will be done and ready for paint before Friday. taking tonight off I think.

I came home from work this afternoon to find a hot house and no power.. It cam back on about 15 minutes after arriving home but had been out for some time..I have the worst trouble with utilities.. Im in an older home (1956) in a first ring suburb.. The equipment here is ancient and they just keep piece-mealing it together.. Squirrels chewed through a rubber junction box for the phone.. They tried siliconing it twice a year for 5 years. till they finally ran a small section of line bypassing it.. the rest of the wire is still ancient and I have to call about twice a year to get them to change the pairs to a good set.. Had a raccoon touch some bare wires on the overhead power lines and explode a few years ago.. It took the rusty transformer out with it. Infrastructure is a big issue in older cities.. The utilties charge me a premium price.. why cant I get premium equipment to supply it?

I guess we went from winter to summer without any decent spring weather. I cant remember the last time we had triple digits in Minnesota.

Also, We are the hottest location in the country today as well. We beat the southwest in the heat index.

The wind was so hot by 3:00 that it could nearly start a grass fire on its own.

I was saying the same thing today, Derek, what the heck happened to Spring ??? I stopped and bought bottled water for the 2 guys running front end loaders in the pit today with NO A/C !!!! One has a thermometer in the cab and it registered 113° He got to quit at 4:00 instead of 5:00... Glad the A/C works in the Pete. I had it wide open from about 3:00 on and it kept up OK but I wasn't freezing, like normal with an R12 system.. I did get to help locate a gas line earlier today with the mexican backhoe and it got uncomfortable very quickly.
