The casting date is perfect. Too bad they didn't build it on the 28th. My car was built the first week of May and the frame date stamp is the 5th. The ED code is correct too for the 3 speed that the car came with. We should discuss a price. Like you say, the stamped codes may be removed during decking, but I know a machinist who can save them too, so I would probably keep them.

Thought ED was 4 sp; but I see it's 3 or 4 sp.  Pretty sure its a Kansas stamp. I'll check.

You should take a look at this thread I posted on TC.  I posted  it when I was looking at the block from they guy on ebay that pulled the ad.

If your frame was built on May 5th, thats a friday of the 1st week in May, It would have to be loaded and shipped to the plant and probably arrive sometime towards the later part of the next week or later, so allowing 5  work days to assembly the car , if was probably finished sometime towards the end of the 3rd week or later.  Seems cowl tags were made up  2 or more weeks before the car was completed.

So engine completed on Friday the 12, shipped to Kansas city arrive the 3rd and into the car by Friday the 19 of the 3rd week.

Bock was built the 4th week of April; but wasn't assembled until May 12, so that would be quite far out for a car with a cowl tag of 04C.  Which is when the cowl tag was stamped, which is before it is put on the body by fisher.  You car probably came off the line sometime very late in April or very early in May according to what I have read and been told.

Yes, Kansas city plant. I think they called it the Leeds plant. I havent looked at my trim tag in so long. But I think it has a 04C build date.

It would be really fun if they had come from the same plant and were only a few hundred VINs apart.

It would be even more cool if it were the actual block that came out of my car.
