Current Prices for Cast Iron & Steel

Just got through calling a recycler in st. paul.  Quote me about 215 a ton for cast iron.

Did I hear him right?  If so that works out to around $1 a lb.   Maybe I will have to call that guy back with the chevelle that is pretty much ready for the chruser.

You're off by a decimal place... That's around 11 cents/lb

Here's a scrap value website:

http://scrapmetalpricesandauctions.com/us/  Click on the 'U.S. Scrap Prices' tab.

Looks like scrap iron is around 0.19/lb.

The thing that amazes me is aluminum scrap.  It's around $1/lb and I remember it being around 0.20/lb. but then that was 15 yrs ago...

Anyone have any scrap recycler recommendations in the Twin Cities (prefer southern part)?

I have some old SBC exhaust manifolds, stock iron SBC intake manifold, sway bar, unboxed control arms, etc. that I need to get rid of and aren't worth anything to anyone.

When I got rid of my bathroom tub (and a lot of other junk) I nearly had to pay them to take it. Most places will offer to take it off your hands, but won't pay anything until you come up with 1-ton+.

They usually only pay out for brass, copper and aluminum in pound quantities.
