Took the Chevelle out for a cruize tonight, and man it's running good!    Figured I better get it out since the weekend weather isn't looking good.

Also confirmed there is a posi in the rear by laying 2 nice black stripes on the blacktop for as long as I wanted to on some country blacktop!  Of course, I had to do it a few times just to make sure!

This is the first I lit 'em up now that the parts have gotten a chance to get happy with each other.

no never heard of it till now. Did he give you a ticket for it ?
Here is what I found on a google search
This is an ordinance out of Sibley county. Wabasha must have the same thing or something similar. Looks like it is handled on the county level.

SUBD. 530.1.3 “Unreasonable acceleration of a motor vehicle” is hereby defined as acceleration without apparent reason and accomplished in such a manner as to cause squealing or screeching sounds by the tires, or the throwing of sand or gravel by the tires of said vehicle, or both. Prima facia evidence of such unnecessary and unreasonable acceleration shall be squealing or screeching sounds emitted by the tires or the throwing of sand or gravel by the tires of said vehicle, or both.
SECTION 530.2 PROHIBITION
Unreasonable acceleration of any motor vehicle on any public or private way or road within the County of Sibley, as unreasonable acceleration is herein defined, is hereby declared to be a public nuisance and is prohibited.
SECTION 530.3 PENALTY
Any person violating any provision of this Ordinance shall be guilty of a petty misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine not to exceed Two Hundred and no/100 ($200.00) Dollars.

wonder if you make the tires stick NO squealing or screeching sounds and do a wheelie what they would do ?????????

Illinois had/has one called "Unlawful Acceleration".

Exhibition Driving.... I wonder what they'd call a gal cruising around topless??

Driving around topless would be exhibitionist driving, but that’s probably against the law also.

Bowtieman427 asks a good question. I took my 20 year old niece out for a ride in the country in the Mustang Wednesday. It was not an exhibition but rather a demonstration of stopping, cornering, and how to reach three digits speed quickly to achieve greater fuel economy. We had a great time; with the TCS system on you can’t spin those tires but you can accelerate very quickly. So I think it was a demonstration driving, not exhibition driving; but I had my shirt on.

So Stan somewhere in southern Dakota County there are some Chevelle marks? That’s ok because bears leave marks on trees for other bears to see, dogs leave their marks on fire hydrants for other dogs to smell, Chevelle’s leave marks on blacktop for Ford and Mopars to see. Seems like a part of nature thing; in fact it’s almost green.

In Dakota county, they call it something like exhibition of performance. Back in 1991 I got pinched in my Camaro while at lunch during school. I had another kid in the car and we pulled up along side a 5.0 Mustang (Chris Wilmer) which was pretty fast. My car had a stock 400 but it had 4.10s so it was quick off the line since it couldn't overpower the tires too much.

We took off, ran through the gears, but then I had to back off and change lanes behind him. Then we took a turn off and went into a parking lot. I came out to a unmarked Deputy Sheriff waiting for me. Luckily I got warnings for unsafe acceleration, exhibition of power, unsafe lane change, following too close, and a noise warning. The kid I was with was scared at first, but when we got back, he couldn't shut up about it.

I have to admit... I bet I drove about 15 miles from my house looking for an isolated 2 lane where I could 'excercise' the Chevelle without worrying about the local Barney Fife.  I bet I saw at least 2 locals and 1 sheriff car on the way out of town!  It was like they knew what I was trying to do.

It's been a long time since I've banked them off (unlike Pushrod-I swear he would do a burnout with his daughter's electric Barbie cars if he could!  ), and I have to admit it was fun!  nana

I just don't like doing it when there are people close to the car or if there's a chance of getting busted by 'the man' (no offense Jon H. ).

I guess I will have to warn the wife that there will be some burnout opportunities on the Pan-O-Prog cruise route in July where people on the country side of the route pour water on the 2 lane and encourage cars to 'lite em up!' as she usually rides with me on that one and always says "Don't do it!"...

None taken Stan. I never did believe in traffic laws as my early driving record would show, I guess that is why I moved into investigations after 3 months on the road.
The old saying "smoke 'em if you got 'em" applies to more than just cigarettes.
