Well the engine is done and ready to go back in. Then just reattaching everything and some general cleaning. Hope to be done by March 1st. I just waiting on the motor mounts.

Stan, looks like we have about the same engine, my block is a 70 ce block that is bored @ .030 over, The old 65 cast iton heads @ 100c's, The cam is a cam dynamic cam that is eqluivalent to the 284H comp cams makes. 0.544 on both the intake and exhaust. Best operating range is 2800 to 6200. Looks like static cr will run about 9.9 and dynamic about 8.3. I think you said you were going to have yours tested first before install. It will be interesting to hear your numbers.

I checked on my project today. The paint is done, next week they will finish the wet sand and buffing. I should be able to bring it home by end of next week to install the rest of the trim, grill, convertible pump, etc. Once that is done I will be taking to have interior and top put on. Hoping that will be last week of February, 1st week of March? Once back from there, 12 bolt swap, and 2004R, should have ready, to exit "Cars Apart Club" in April.

Engine is just about done should be getting dyno late next week or early the week after.
-Have to get going on GVOD install
-finsh wire up
-Put engine tranny and GVOD unit it. hook it all up.
-HOPE ALL GOES WELL with everyones put together :)

I hope to go to the dyno by the end of the month. Your cam is a little bit more agressive than mine, but the engines are pretty close. I'll post before/after mine goes to the dyno.

Sounds like some of us are going to make it back together by April!

After the suspension fiasco with the Brut.. I now have a snowmobile that should be put together and a car that should be apart... Im about 2 months behind and have to make a decision.. I guess Ill start putting the Brut back together as far as I can without the suspension, and start on the Chevelle ASAP...

I think I am out of the club as long as a hood is not required.

Such a nice day, 51 degrees here today, that I thought it would be a good time to start it up for the first time after tearing it apart. Poured a little gas in the carb and it took right off. Things seem fine so far. Now need warm weather.

I'm one step closer today. Got the handoff on my package tray (Thanks Chris P) from Auto City Classics in Isanti. Here's what's left for me:

*replace lower roller on 1/4 glass. Reinstall glass.

*install package tray. SPeakers are already mounted underneath now, so it's just a slide in deal.

*clean all of (the interior formerls known as) Mitch's seats.

*vacuum bare floor. POR-15 floor.

*Install Hushmat sound deadener

*reinstall 1/4 trim

*reinstall carpet and rear seats

*install front door trim

Hopefully I get all that done this weekend. Waiting for front seatbelts (3 point retractor ones) then I can jam them in and put the front seats in and reinstall the console nad beat that clock!

I think I'm out of C.A.C.!!

I had to put the wife's car in the "service bay" today, and diagnose a "clinking" sound (busted RF spring!!), so Blackie had to move. So I moved him.

Under his own power, backed down the driveway, 1/2-way back up, then back into the garage. Now I can spend the remaining 86 days cleaning/detailing, taking a "real" maiden voyage, and tweaking...

Not so fast Johnny Boy! That hood is still in the bed of the cruck! To me that's still apart (even though it's moving under it's own power. Let the CAC definitions fly!

Unfortunately, it looks like more snow Sunday... so the test driving will have to wait a little longer. disbelief

When I installed three point seat belts in my Elky I found that the lower one by the door needs to be removed to get the seat in or out. Coupes are slightly different than Elkys but take a look to see how much interference the belt assembly creates.

Thanks. I'll be putting the buckle in first, then seats, then the retractor. My seats are the same as Rick P's and same belts, so there shouldn't be any interference I hope.

Ok C.A.C.'s... you've got a little reprieve.

Since two of the area's cruise destinations (Hastings and the Lookout Bar) have posted their "official" schedules for the 2011 season, I've updated the

counter!

It was originally set up to zero-out on May 14.

Since Hastings starts on the 28th, and Lookout starts on the 18th, I split the difference and made the deadline May 21.

I got waylaid for the last week with tax prep, snow and the Camaro Club trailer...
The trailer looked like this when I got a couple weeks ago.

So I went to MPLS and got square tubing, strap and expanded mesh and built this...

It's a little more organized now.

I'll be at the River Center all day tomorrow setting up the display. All the parts on the rack are the barrier system to define the spectator isles.

Looks nice Mitch. If/when I have a welder, time and skill, I would be doing lots of that stuff.

For my CAC meter, I got my seatbelts in today. 3 pointer retractable ones. Looking to do Hushmat on friday and some minor things then start putting it back together.

Pulled the trigger tonight on ordering parts I need for the rest of the install from Ground Up (www.SS396), Summit, and Bowtie Overdrives. Time to hide the order confirmations from the wife now!!!

The clock will be down to 80 days before I can get back on mine. I really need to get my business taxes to the accountant next week.
I ordered a radio and speakers for it yesterday and the speakers should be here the first part of next week. It will be nice to put the dual channel speaker in the dash before I install the instrument panel. The radio is hand built for the application and they are 3 weeks behind, so that will have to wiggle in later... emote.img?ID=15293

And really... I'm counting the Spring Fling show at the Fairgrounds as the first 'show' for me, so actually I'm at about 50 days!

Hopefully the dyno goes well Friday and I can start putting things back together and into the Chevelle.

I had the brake system all ready for fluid before I left but didn't want it fill it in case it had a leak. Filled the master and bled it yesterday with no issues and then plumbed it in. "A" leak would've been nice.....I had 2 preformed lines that wouldn't seal and once I finally got them tight enough the copper washers on the banjo bolts won't stop seaping. They seem to be harder than the old ones and I stripped a banjo bolt yesterday trying to tighten it down...

I ordered a new bolt and washers this morning and should get them around 11:30. Hoping to get the brake system sealed today.
Last Saturday I also discovered the driveshaft is too friggin' long...

It is a stock one from another '66 with PG and SHOULD bolt right in. The rear axle is a '70 8.5 and I'm wondering if the 8.5 locates the yoke farther ahead than the 8.2 and would be causing the mismatch ? The shaft is about 1 1/2" too long.

Then there's the issue with the radiator....blah, blah, blah....it doesn't seem to end...

Should I put the new rear end in with the engine tranny out or put the engine tranny in first then the rear end. Still upgrading the electical stuff. Have to put in a new Proportioning valve and redo lines. May is right around the corner. Not enought time in the day. Work is taking up way to much time. Will be traveling for work for a couple days now too. : (

Figure out the length you need and have the shaft either shortened or have a new one made. Its not that expensive and we have a discount set up at places like Catco that do this kind of work.

Shouldn't make any difference which order.
A month ago, I didn't see any problem beating that counter. Now after many distractions and new issues, I'm not sure anymore...
I'm at the point where I need to do body work and paint the entire front clip and thought I had a place to do it but that didn't work out. Maybe I can rent Karl's booth on a Saturday...

Ahhh spring.

Reconnected the battery, turned over the engine until I got oil pressure and sprayed a little starter fluid into the carb and it started right up as happy as could be.

Now I just need to put some finishing touches like lights and turn signals.

Another one 'officially' out of the CAC as of 11:18 A.M. CDT! nana

Went for a break in run, took it to Master Trans and got the thumbs up, then for another break in drive to Eagan to show Competition Engines their handiwork. All is working GREAT!!!!

The trans is great out of the box with firm up and down shifts, doesn't hunt for a gear in OD around town, AND.... is only running 2000 RPM at 60 MPH!!! The only trans issue is we will have to change out speedo gears since the speedo is off, which is no big deal.

Feeling pretty satisfied with how things went right now (5.5 months long...) and want to thank everyone that pitched in with either parts or labor!

Now I can eat some lunch, relax, and take a nap since all I've thought about for the past few weeks at night is will this thing turn out well.

Looks great Stan... I finally got the rear end out.. going to have the axel tubes welded onto the center section tomorrow.. then Vacation is shot.. Back to work on Sunday night..
